PTC Industries Wins Defence Order for Artillery Gun Components from Gun Factory Kanpur
New Delhi, July 2026 : Lucknow-based engineering firm PTC Industries has secured a development order from Gun Factory Kanpur for the manufacture of major artillery gun components, further strengthening its presence in India’s growing defence manufacturing sector. The order marks another milestone in the company’s expanding defence portfolio and reinforces its contribution to the country’s drive for self-reliance in military production.
The development order represents a strategic collaboration between PTC Industries, known for its expertise in precision engineering, and Gun Factory Kanpur, one of India’s premier artillery manufacturing facilities. The partnership reflects the government’s increasing focus on integrating private sector capabilities with public sector defence enterprises to accelerate indigenous production of critical military equipment.
Established in 1979, Gun Factory Kanpur functions under Advanced Weapons and Equipment India Limited (AWEIL), a defence public sector enterprise operating under the Ministry of Defence. Over the decades, the factory has played a crucial role in manufacturing artillery guns, spare parts and associated equipment for the Indian Armed Forces.
The facility has been instrumental in supporting India’s 105mm and 130mm artillery systems by producing essential components, supplying spares and undertaking refurbishment work to maintain the operational readiness of these weapon platforms. Its long-standing expertise has made it a key pillar of India’s artillery production ecosystem.
The latest collaboration with PTC Industries is expected to enhance domestic manufacturing capabilities for advanced artillery systems while promoting greater participation of private industry in defence production.
For PTC Industries, the order further strengthens its position as a key supplier to India’s defence modernisation programme. The company has steadily expanded its footprint in aerospace, defence and missile subsystem manufacturing, and the new assignment adds another important capability to its portfolio.
Industry experts view the partnership as a positive step towards creating a stronger and more diversified defence industrial base. By combining PTC Industries’ precision manufacturing expertise with Gun Factory Kanpur’s decades of experience in artillery production, the collaboration is expected to contribute to the development of advanced indigenous defence technologies and reduce dependence on foreign suppliers.
The order also aligns with the Government of India’s ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ initiative, which aims to boost domestic defence manufacturing through closer cooperation between public sector units and private industry, ultimately strengthening the country’s strategic and industrial capabilities.
