Rajasthan Gears Up to Boost Tourism: Deputy CM Diya Kumari Chairs High-Level Review Meeting

This Year’s Teej Festival to Be More Grand; Master Plan for Revamping Shilpgram Underway

Jaipur – In a significant move to elevate tourism in Rajasthan, Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari chaired a high-level review meeting at the Secretariat in Jaipur on Saturday. The meeting focused on various key areas including the Teej Festival, revamp of Shilpgram, development of the Jamway Mata temple precinct, and conservation of Rajasthan’s historical monuments.

Deputy CM Diya Kumari directed officials to organize this year’s Teej Festival as a grand two-day celebration, aimed at showcasing Rajasthan’s rich cultural heritage on a global platform. She emphasized that the revitalization of Shilpgram, located within the Jawahar Kala Kendra complex, should be guided by a comprehensive and visionary plan that places local artisans at the center. The goal is to provide year-round exhibition opportunities to artisans, ensuring sustainable livelihoods and making Shilpgram a vibrant cultural hub.

Key Directives from the Meeting:

  • Teej Festival will be held over two days with enhanced grandeur and cultural activities.
  • The redevelopment plan for Shilpgram will adopt a long-term vision focused on the welfare and visibility of artisans.
  • Development work around the Jamway Mata Temple will be expedited.
  • Restoration of stepwells (bawdis) and other heritage monuments will be undertaken with the help of expert conservationists.
  • Projects sanctioned under the Government of India’s SASAKTI scheme, including the development of Amer, Nahargarh, and Jal Mahal, will be implemented on a time-bound basis.

During the meeting, Deputy CM Diya Kumari reiterated that Rajasthan’s identity lies in its art, culture, and heritage. She stressed the importance of integrating cultural promotion with tourism development to keep the future generations connected to their roots.

Among those present at the meeting were Rajesh Sharma (Joint Director, Tourism Development), Lalit Kumar (Special Officer), Alka Meena (Additional Director General, Jawahar Kala Kendra), Puneeta Singh (Joint Director, Fairs & Festivals), and Upendra Singh Shekhawat (Deputy Director, Tourism), along with other senior officials.
