First Meeting of Ministerial Committee Held to Discuss Demands of Extremely Backward Classes and Gujjar Community
The first meeting of the ministerial committee formed to address various demands raised by representatives of the Extremely Backward Classes (EBCs) and the Gujjar community was held on Tuesday at the State Secretariat. The meeting included a detailed discussion on the agreements previously reached between the State Government and the Gujjar Reservation Struggle Committee.
Formed under the directions of Chief Minister Shri Bhajanlal Sharma, the committee’s meeting focused on several key issues, including the resolution of cases related to the Gujjar reservation movement, reservation in recruitment and roster systems, compassionate appointments for those affected by the movement, progress of the Devnarayan Scheme, and the inclusion of the 5% EBC reservation in the Ninth Schedule of the Constitution. All points were discussed positively.
The committee directed the concerned departments to submit factual reports within 15 days and also decided to hold further discussions with representatives nominated by the Gujjar Reservation Struggle Committee.
Present at the meeting were Parliamentary Affairs Minister Shri Jogaram Patel, Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Shri Avinash Gehlot, Minister of State for Home Affairs Shri Jawahar Singh Bedham, Additional Chief Secretary of the Social Justice and Empowerment Department Smt. Aparna Arora, Additional Chief Secretary of the Home Department Shri Bhaskar A. Sawant, along with officials from other concerned departments.
