Daughters of Dantewada Bring Glory to Chhattisgarh
Nupur, Chhaya, and Nehal Win Gold at National Muay Thai Championship
Raipur : The daughters of Dantewada — Nupur Thakur, Chhaya Nag, and Nehal Thakur — have brought great pride to Chhattisgarh by winning gold medals at the 11th National Muay Thai (Thai Boxing) Championship held in Khairatabad, Telangana. Their stellar performance is a powerful testament to the untapped talent emerging from the rural and Naxal-affected regions of the state.
Under the leadership of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, the state government is committed to providing youth from remote areas with opportunities in sports, education, and employment, enabling them to reach new heights. These young women from Dantewada have proven through dedication and hard work that daughters of Chhattisgarh are second to none in any field.
The three-day national championship witnessed the participation of around 150 athletes from 8 states, with 14 players from Chhattisgarh securing medals. Among them, Nupur, Chhaya, and Nehal’s gold medal victories have etched a golden chapter in the district’s sporting history. Notably, Nupur Thakur had earlier won a gold medal at the national championship held in Goa.
Following their success, the three champions met with District Collector Kunal Dudawat today. Congratulating the athletes, he said, “The daughters of Dantewada have become a source of inspiration for the entire state. The district administration remains committed to supporting and encouraging sports talent at every level.”
The achievements of these young athletes shine a light on the potential that lies within Chhattisgarh’s youth — especially those from underrepresented regions — and the government’s focus on nurturing their talents for national and international recognition.
