Mining Department Review Meeting: CM Bhajanlal Sharma Emphasizes Strict Compliance and Revenue Goals
Jaipur, July 6, 2025 – Chief Minister Shri Bhajanlal Sharma has instructed the effective utilization of mineral resources to ensure the achievement of state revenue targets. Emphasizing strict compliance with mining laws and regulations, he directed officials to intensify efforts to curb illegal mining activities across Rajasthan.
While addressing a review meeting of the Mining Department at the Chief Minister’s residence on Sunday, Shri Sharma highlighted Rajasthan’s abundant mineral wealth and its immense mining potential. He called on the department to accelerate the exploration of new mining zones and expedite the auction process. He further stressed that mining operations must begin swiftly in the auctioned blocks to ensure timely supply that meets consumer demand.
Reform Penalty Procedures and Ensure Timely Revenue Collection
Stating that mining contributes significantly to the state’s revenue, the Chief Minister asserted that the department must meet revenue targets within the prescribed timeframe, warning that any form of negligence would not be tolerated. He also instructed reforms in the penalty procedures to make them more relevant and consistent with current needs.
Use Technology to Curb Illegal Mining
To tackle illegal mining effectively, Shri Sharma emphasized the integration of modern information technologies. He directed the use of CCTV surveillance, drone monitoring, and strict checking of transport vehicles to curb unauthorized mining activities. He urged coordinated efforts from the police, district administration, forest department, transport department, and the mining department to address illegal mining comprehensively.
Promote Environment-Friendly M-Sand and Crusher Dust
Recognizing the environmental benefits and construction quality of manufactured sand (M-sand), the Chief Minister called for its widespread promotion to reduce dependency on natural river sand. He also advocated the use of crusher dust as a viable alternative in construction.
Restructuring of the Mining Department
CM Sharma urged departmental personnel to perform their duties with dedication and prioritize state interests. To improve the efficiency and output of the Mining Department, he directed its restructuring and instructed the transfer of personnel who have held long-standing positions within the department.
He also issued directions to explore new block auctions, and reviewed matters related to DMFT (District Mineral Foundation Trust) and NMET (National Mineral Exploration Trust). Furthermore, he instructed officials to study successful mining practices in Odisha and other states and examine how these models could be adapted and implemented in Rajasthan.
Senior officials from the concerned departments were present at the meeting.
