Scottish Government launches funding campaign to boost salmon exports to Europe.

A day before, when Salmon farmers in Scotland are preparing to tap into the lucrative Indian market in a move that producers’ association Salmon Scotland expects would deliver a massive boost for the economy. In accordance, producers have commenced exploring new opportunities following agreement on a free trade deal that would reduce tariffs on exports to the sub-continent; the Scotland Government on 10th. July, 2025 has announced a new £100,000 (US$140,000) campaign seeks to help boost sales of Scottish salmon in France and other European markets. The marketing initiative will be jointly funded by trade body Salmon Scotland and the government, with each contributing £50,000 (US$70,000).

Salmon Scotland said about a third of Scottish salmon exports to France carry the “Label Rouge” mark, which was awarded over 30 years ago for “superior quality,” with plans to grow its global share to 15% by 2026.

The recent UK-EU trade deal opens doors for higher salmon exports to Europe, but US tariffs are pushing rival producers to focus more on European markets, risking the UK’s leading food export losing ground in its biggest overseas market“, Salmon Scotland said in a press release dated July 10th. Salmon Scotland said it is also calling for renewed talks to remove the 10% tariff on its US exports.
