Eastern Railways, Sealdah Division gets State-of-the Art RPF Ladies Barrack.

In a dedicated effort to enhance accommodation and welfare facilities for women personnel of the Railway Protection Force (RPF), a newly constructed “Martyr Ashiwini B. Waghare RPF Ladies Barrack” was inaugurated today at Narkeldanga Rail Colony, Sealdah by Mrs Seema Deouskar, President, Eastern Railway Women’s Welfare Organisation (ERWWO). The event was graced by the presence of Mr. Milind Deouskar, General Manager, Eastern Railway, and other senior officials.

The barrack has been named in honour of Late Ashiwini Baliram Waghare, a brave lady constable of the RPF, as a tribute to her dedicated service. On this solemn occasion, Mrs Seema Deouskar also felicitated the mother of the late constable, expressing heartfelt gratitude on behalf of Eastern Railway.

The newly inaugurated RPF Barrack consists of 8 spacious rooms, with provision to accommodate 16 lady RPF personnel, two in each room. For the physical fitness and well-being of the residents, the barrack is equipped with modern gym facilities. Additionally, a well-furnished dining space, washing machines and water purifier unit have been provided to ensure a comfortable and hygienic living environment.

As part of the auspicious programme, a mass sapling plantation drive was also organised at ‘Aayush Van’, Narkeldanga Rail Colony. Mrs Seema Deouskar, Mr. Milind Deouskar, along with other senior officers planted a variety of Ayurvedic and fruit-bearing saplings, including Cardamom, Lemongrass, Sarpagandha, Zingiber officinale (Ginger), Aloe Vera, Kalmegh, Brahmi, Guava, Mango, Jamun and others, promoting environmental sustainability and natural wellness.

The event was attended by several Senior Officers including Mr. Sheelendra Pratap Singh, Additional General Manager, Eastern Railway, Mr. Amiya Nandan Sinha, IG-cum-PCSC/RPF, Eastern Railway, Divisional Railway Manager, Sealdah, Principal Heads of Departments/Eastern Railway, and Divisional Railway Officers.

This initiative highlights Eastern Railway’s continued commitment towards the welfare, safety, and empowerment of its women workforce, while also reinforcing its dedication to environmental stewardship.
