Hon’ble Chief Minister M.K. Stalin Inaugurates and Launches Development Projects Worth Over Rs. 432 Lakhs in Mayiladuthurai

Mayiladuthurai — At a grand government function held in Naradasapati, Mayiladuthurai, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Mr. M.K. Stalin inaugurated and laid the foundation for multiple development works valued at over Rs. 432 lakhs. The initiatives span across sectors including public infrastructure, education, healthcare, and welfare schemes, aimed at improving the quality of life in the district.

Completed Projects Inaugurated

The Chief Minister inaugurated 47 completed infrastructure works amounting to Rs. 92 lakhs. These include:

  • Renovation of government offices
  • Upgradation of public utility buildings
  • Revamped educational institutions

These works were executed to strengthen local administrative and service delivery frameworks.

New Projects Launched

CM Stalin also laid the foundation for 12 new development projects estimated at Rs. 51 lakhs each, totaling approximately Rs. 340 lakhs. These projects include:

  • New classrooms and laboratories in government schools
  • Additional buildings for healthcare institutions
  • Village libraries and digital learning centers

A total of 113 units will be developed under these new schemes to benefit educational and healthcare access.

Government Welfare Assistance to 54,461 Beneficiaries

During the same event, welfare assistance under various government schemes was disbursed to 54,461 beneficiaries. Key highlights include:

  • Distribution of nutrition kits to pregnant women
  • Financial aid to women’s self-help groups
  • Smart phones and medical aids to differently-abled persons
  • Free bicycles and sewing machines
  • Housing and land titles under CM’s housing scheme

In total, 271 individual assistance schemes worth Rs. 24 lakhs were distributed.

Focus on Education & Skill Development

Under the Education Department, 26 educational infrastructure units were completed in Tudaychandrapuram, Thalangyasari, Srikanipuram, Dildalodi, and other villages at a cost of Rs. 12 lakhs.

Additionally:

  • Rs. 40 lakhs were allocated for upgradation of Darumapuram Gnanambika Govt. Women’s College
  • Rs. 40 lakhs each were sanctioned to Ponmanach Basammal MGR College and Puthur Government College
  • Libraries and digital classrooms were established in several rural schools

Health Sector Upgrades

Rs. 80 lakhs were earmarked for primary health centers in Sirkazhi, Pudupettinam, and other nearby villages. Further, Rs. 60 lakhs were sanctioned to expand Sirkazhi Government Hospital’s facilities, including an improved eye treatment ward.

Rural Development & Infrastructure

Efforts to strengthen rural areas included:

  • Rs. 54 lakhs to build new acquisition centers and public distribution shops
  • Rs. 43 lakhs to improve amenities in Paselagam and Kaingal panchayats
  • Rs. 70 lakhs for river embankment and irrigation development

Government also funded:

  • 22 lakh worth embankments to prevent flooding in Perunyadatim Lake area
  • Rs. 50 lakhs each for 31 village infrastructure improvements
  • Rs. 35 lakhs to enhance water supply from Kaveri river in Kailangudi

Municipal & Drinking Water Projects

The Municipal Corporation and Drinking Water Department executed several projects including:

  • Rs. 85 lakhs for a new municipal office in Mayiladuthurai
  • Rs. 21 lakhs for a water purification unit in Tarangamodi
  • Rs. 44 lakhs for sanitation and water infrastructure in Kuthalam

Special Welfare Announcements

Various departments collaborated to offer targeted welfare:

  • Women’s Development: Financial aid to over 12,000 SHG women, provision of iron boxes, tailoring equipment, land titles, and Aadhar-linked cards
  • Welfare for the Differently Abled: 167 women received customized scooters, wheelchairs, smart devices, and insurance cards
  • Children’s Welfare: Special nutritional and educational assistance to thousands
  • Minority Welfare: Aid distribution among Muslim and Christian beneficiaries
  • Consumer Affairs: New kitchen appliances distributed to 1,000 women
  • Cooperative Schemes: 1,242 women received livelihood aids like livestock, tools, and welfare cards
