44th NABARD Foundation Day Observed at Mausen Village, Lunglei District

Lunglei : A promotional event cum plantation drive was held today at Mausen village in Lunglei District to commemorate the 44th Foundation Day of NABARD (National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development).

Established on July 12, 1982, NABARD serves as the apex institution for agriculture and rural development in India. The Foundation Day is being observed from July 12 to 19, 2025.

The event was attended by NABARD Lunglei District Development Manager Ms Chiinngaihkim Phiamphu, MCAB Lunglei AG-I Mr H. Remsangpuia, and Board of Directors and FPO members of Lushai Agriculture Producer Company Ltd.

During the programme, DDM NABARD highlighted various developmental initiatives implemented in Lunglei District and their benefits to the local population. Key projects include Springshed Development Projects in Haulawng, Vanhne, and Sairep villages; Tribal Development Projects; Rural Haat; Gram Dukan; Skill Development Programmes; and Micro-Entrepreneurship Development Programmes.

MCAB AG-I Mr H. Remsangpuia delivered a brief address on the support provided by MCAB to Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS), and how the formation of M-PACS enables farmers to access loans through the society to start their own businesses.

Following the programme, a plantation drive titled “Ek Ped Maa ke Naam”, aligned with the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change’s afforestation initiatives, was conducted in Mausen village.
