Chief Minister’s Meetings in Delhi with Key Leaders to Accelerate State Development Projects

Met with Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, J.P. Nadda, Manohar Lal Khattar, Nirmala Sitharaman, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, and NITI Aayog

New Delhi : To push forward various development projects in Maharashtra, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis held a series of high-level meetings with Union ministers and senior officials over the past two days in Delhi. He met with Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Health Minister J.P. Nadda, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Housing Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, and senior members of the NITI Aayog.

CM Fadnavis held a courtesy meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah at Parliament House to discuss various Maharashtra-related projects and issues. The meeting lasted about 25 minutes. He also met Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and discussed key matters.
Additionally, he met Union Housing Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini during his Delhi visit.

Meeting with Nirmala Sitharaman

In his meeting with Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, CM Fadnavis requested approvals from the Department of Economic Affairs for funding various projects through international financial institutions. Sitharaman praised Maharashtra’s strong economic performance across key indicators.

Projects discussed included:

  • A $1 billion (approx. ₹8,651 crore) request from the Asian Development Bank for concrete roads in villages with populations over 1,000.
  • A $500 million (approx. ₹4,326 crore) proposal to address rising sea levels along Maharashtra’s coastline using natural solutions.
  • Another $500 million project for wastewater treatment and reuse in municipal areas for industrial purposes.

Two additional projects seek World Bank support. Sitharaman directed the finance ministry to process approvals. The meeting was attended by Finance Secretary Anuradha Thakur, Chief Economic Advisor Praveen Pardeshi, and Principal Secretary to the CM Ashwini Bhide.

Fertilizer Plant in Vidarbha Discussed with J.P. Nadda

CM Fadnavis discussed a proposed fertilizer plant in Vidarbha with Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda. The project, in Nagpur district, will be a joint venture between GAIL, the Fertilizer Department, and the Maharashtra government, with an annual capacity of 1.27 million tonnes and an investment of around ₹10,000 crore. A request for subsidy support was also made.

Nadda instructed the preparation of a cabinet proposal. Fertilizer Department Secretary Rajat Kumar Mishra was also present.

Meeting with Shivraj Singh Chouhan – 14,000 km Rural Roads Project

Maharashtra has submitted a proposal to the Union Rural Development Ministry for the construction of 14,000 km of rural roads, valued at $2.6 billion (approx. ₹22,490 crore), with ADB assistance.

These roads will be built on a 25-year maintenance-free model. Shivraj Singh Chouhan said this is a highly ambitious project that will significantly improve connectivity for farmers. CM Fadnavis requested support for the initiative.

Chouhan congratulated Maharashtra for its swift PMAY (housing) survey, noting that the state received the highest allocation of 3 million homes under the central scheme.

Meeting with NITI Aayog

CM Fadnavis met NITI Aayog CEO B.V.R. Subrahmanyam and Member Rajiv Gauba. NITI Aayog commended Maharashtra for maintaining its FRBM (fiscal responsibility) ratio at 18%, well below the 25% cap.

Projects discussed included:

  • AI-powered NCD (Non-Communicable Disease) screening
  • A bamboo-based cluster project (both worth $500 million each)
  • Marathwada Water Grid
  • Damanganga-Godavari river linking project and other water conservation efforts (worth approx. $1 billion)
  • Skill training initiatives linking Maharashtra’s ITIs with private industry

Detailed presentations were made, and NITI Aayog assured support to expedite approvals.
