CM Dhami Directs Strengthening of Facilities at Major Temples Across Uttarakhand
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami, during a high-level meeting held at the Secretariat on Monday, directed officials to ensure proper arrangements at the state’s prominent religious sites. These include the Mansa Devi and Chandi Devi temples in Haridwar, Purnagiri Dham in Tanakpur, Kainchi Dham in Nainital, Jageshwar Temple in Almora, and Neelkanth Mahadev Temple in Pauri, among other popular shrines.
The Chief Minister emphasized the need to account for the increasing number of devotees at these sacred places and instructed authorities to ensure smooth crowd management, mandatory registration of pilgrims, widening of footpaths and stairways, removal of encroachments, and provision of all essential amenities. The goal is to provide pilgrims with a safe, accessible, and seamless darshan experience.
CM Dhami also directed that a committee be formed under the chairmanship of the Commissioners of both Garhwal and Kumaon divisions. This committee will include District Magistrates of the concerned districts, Senior Superintendents of Police, Vice-Chairpersons of Development Authorities, and representatives of implementing agencies.
He especially stressed on the planned development of temple complexes like Mansa Devi, enhancing their holding capacity, improving shop management, and streamlining the darshan process. He instructed that registration of devotees be made mandatory and that the number of pilgrims be regulated through a phased approach to avoid overcrowding and inconvenience.
Prominent officials present in the meeting included Principal Secretaries Shri R.K. Sudhanshu and Shri R. Meenakshi Sundaram, Secretaries Shri Shailesh Bagoli and Shri S.N. Pandey, Commissioner of Garhwal Shri Vinay Shankar Pandey, Additional Director General of Police Shri A.P. Anshuman, Special Secretary Dr. Parag Madhukar Dhakate, and Additional Secretary Shri Banshidhar Tiwari.
