CM M.K. Stalin Distributes Appointment Orders to 2,538 Selected Candidates in Urban Administration and Water Supply Department

Chennai: Hon’ble Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Thiru M.K. Stalin handed over appointment orders to 2,538 selected candidates under the Urban Administration and Water Supply Department at an official function held at Nandambakkam Chennai Trade Centre.

The appointments were made for various positions including Assistant Engineer, Assistant Engineer (Planning), Junior Engineer, Technical Assistant, Draughtsman, Work Overseer, Town Planning Inspector / Junior Engineer (Planning), Work Inspector, and Sanitary Inspector.

The Urban Administration and Water Supply Department has been continuously enhancing urban local bodies, ensuring safe drinking water supply, improving the quality of life in urban habitations through projects like underground drainage schemes, stormwater drainage, infrastructure development, and provision of affordable housing in urban areas. Recognizing the critical role of this department, efforts have been made to fill up vacant posts promptly without delay.

In line with this, notifications were issued on 2nd February 2024 to fill vacant positions in the Directorate of Municipal Administration, Directorate of Town Panchayats, Tamil Nadu Water Supply and Drainage Board (TWAD), Chennai Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (CMWSSB), and Greater Chennai Corporation. Written examinations were conducted through Anna University on 29th & 30th June and 6th July 2024 for degree and diploma qualification posts. The list of candidates shortlisted for interviews was published on 20th September 2024.

Subsequently, interviews were conducted from 7th October 2024 to 17th February 2025. Out of 1,12,955 candidates who appeared for the exams, 6,606 were shortlisted for interviews and document verification. Based on merit and community reservation, interviews were held from 28th February to 2nd April 2025, culminating in the selection of 2,538 candidates for appointment.

These selected candidates have now been appointed to various departments under the Urban Administration and Water Supply sector including the Directorate of Municipal Administration, Directorate of Town Panchayats, TWAD Board, CMWSSB, and Greater Chennai Corporation. The appointment orders were officially distributed today by the Hon’ble Chief Minister.

Kumaragurubaran IAS, Managing Director of Chennai Metro Water Board Dr. T.G. Vinay IAS, Director of Municipal Administration Thiru P. Madhusudhan Reddy IAS, Managing Director of TWAD Board Dr. G.S. Sameeran IAS, Director of Town Panchayats Thiru M. Pradeep Kumar IAS, and several senior officials.
