State Government Committed to Promoting Ayurveda – Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has said that the State Government is committed to promoting Ayurveda in Uttarakhand. For this, one model AYUSH village is being developed in every district, along with the establishment of new yoga and wellness centres.
Addressing the proceedings release ceremony of the 10th World Ayurveda Congress and Arogya Expo at a hotel in Old Rajpur on Monday, the Chief Minister expressed pride that Devbhoomi Uttarakhand had successfully hosted the 10th World Ayurveda Congress and Arogya Expo. He said that releasing the proceedings was a way to preserve the memories and achievements of this historic event. He noted that the document is not merely a record, but a compilation of knowledge, experiences, and deep deliberations that will play a vital role in shaping future research, policy-making, and public health in the field of Ayurveda.
The Chief Minister said that through the World Ayurveda Congress and Arogya Expo Mart, India successfully conveyed to the world how Ayurveda can help achieve optimal health, while also spreading the eternal Hindu cultural message of Sarve Santu Niramayah (“May all be free from disease”). Praising Vijnana Bharati’s Vijnana Vidyarthi Manthan, he said it is not only a powerful initiative to develop scientific curiosity, research orientation, and innovation among youth, but also a comprehensive effort to create an inquisitive, aware, and responsible future generation.
He described Ayurveda as a unique medical system that has safeguarded human health since ancient times, treating not only external ailments but also internal disorders related to the mind and senses. This holistic approach, he said, is the reason for Ayurveda’s growing global acceptance, calling it humanity’s most valuable gift. He also highlighted Uttarakhand’s historical role as a land rich in Ayurvedic knowledge and medicinal wealth, where the herbs found in the hill regions have played a crucial role in establishing Ayurveda as a foundation of health.
The Chief Minister said it is a matter of pride that under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Ministry of AYUSH is giving global recognition to this ancient science. Central Government initiatives like the National AYUSH Mission and Prakriti Parikshan Abhiyan are playing a key role in ensuring health from cities to villages. With the guidance and support of the Prime Minister, the State Government is working continuously for the promotion of Ayurveda in the state.
Currently, more than 300 AYUSH-based “Ayushman Arogya Centres” are operational across Uttarakhand, and over 70 specialists are providing Ayurveda consultations through the e-Sanjeevani portal. The State Government is setting up 50-bed and 10-bed AYUSH hospitals in every district, and developing one model AYUSH village per district. Under the Uttarakhand AYUSH Policy, the State Government is boosting medicine manufacturing, wellness services, education, research, and medicinal plant cultivation. In the coming years, the government also plans to start AYUSH teleconsultation services and establish 50 new yoga and wellness centres.
The Chief Minister added that the State Government has requested the Ministry of AYUSH to set up an All India Institute of Ayurveda in Uttarakhand, which will be a milestone in Ayurveda education and research in the state.
On this occasion, the Chief Minister released AYUSH Department’s coffee table book and the poster for Vijnana Bharati’s Vijnana Vidyarthi Manthan competition, and honoured several individuals for their contributions to promoting Ayurveda.
Earlier, Vijnana Bharati’s National Organising Secretary Dr. Shiv Kumar presented a detailed outline of the event. A moment of silence was observed for those who lost their lives in the Dharali disaster.
The event was attended by Health Minister Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat, State Women’s Commission Chairperson Smt. Kusum Kandwal, RSS State Pracharak Dr. Shailendra, Secretary Dipendra Chaudhary, AYUSH Director Vijay Jogdande, Prof. Anup Thakkar, Shri Chandrashekhar Nayyar, Dr. V.K. Ashok, Prof. K.D. Purohit, and several other dignitaries.
