Unveiling of Full-Size Statue of Late People’s Leader Gopinathrao Munde by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis

Latur, Aug 2025 : The full-size statue of late people’s leader and former Deputy Chief Minister Gopinathrao Munde was unveiled today by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

The unveiling ceremony took place in the premises of the Latur Zilla Parishad, where the statue has been installed. The event was attended by Environment Minister Pankaja Munde, Rural Development Minister Jayakumar Gore, Guardian Minister Shivendrasinh Bhosale, Chairman of the State Agricultural Price Commission Pasha Patel, MLAs Vikram Kale, Ramesh Karad, Dhananjay Munde, Sanjay Bansode, Sambhaji Patil Nilangekar, Abhimanyu Pawar, District Collector Varsha Thakur-Ghuge, Latur Zilla Parishad CEO Rahul Kumar Meena, and Latur Municipal Commissioner Mansi Meena, among others.

At the start of the programme, Chief Minister Fadnavis was welcomed with a copy of the Indian Constitution. During the statue unveiling, he paid floral tribute to the statue of the late Gopinathrao Munde and then unveiled the name plaque.

CM Fadnavis also paid floral tribute to the statue of late former Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh, also located in the Zilla Parishad premises.

The statue of late people’s leader Gopinathrao Munde, installed by the Zilla Parishad, stands 14 feet tall, made of bronze metal, and weighs 900 kg. It has been erected on a 3,451.56 sq. metre plot. The beautification of the statue premises was designed by architect Vinay Ingle, while sculptors Vijay Bondar and Ambadas Paighan crafted the statue. The total cost of statue installation and beautification was ₹1.51 crore.

The unveiling ceremony was attended by officials from various departments, employees, and local citizens.
