Srinivas Goud Accuses CM Revanth Reddy of Ignoring Goud and BC Communities

Hyderabad Aug 2025 : Senior Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader and former minister V. Srinivas Goud on Tuesday launched a sharp attack on Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, alleging that the Congress government has failed to deliver on its promises to communities engaged in traditional occupations, particularly the Goud community and other Backward Class (BC) groups.

Addressing the media at Telangana Bhavan, Srinivas Goud accused the Chief Minister of indulging in constant criticism of former CM K. Chandrashekhar Rao (KCR), even on the birth anniversary of Sarvai Papanna Goud, rather than focusing on welfare measures.

Unfulfilled Promises on Reservations

The BRS leader said that during the elections, the Congress had promised 25 per cent reservation in liquor shops for the Goud community and 42 per cent overall reservation for BCs. However, he alleged that no steps have been taken to implement these assurances after coming to power.

Srinivas Goud also dismissed Revanth Reddy’s claim that KCR restricted reservations to 50 per cent, pointing out that the former CM had fought for 62 per cent reservation. He reminded that it was the Congress party that had approached the Supreme Court to block the enhanced quota. “Now the Chief Minister must prove his sincerity by implementing 42 per cent reservation for BCs as promised,” he demanded.

Delay in Ex-Gratia for Toddy Tappers

The BRS leader further accused the government of neglecting the welfare of toddy tappers. He claimed that the Congress administration had failed to disburse ex-gratia compensation to the families of 700 deceased toddy tappers over the past 20 months. “The CM raised our hopes during the elections but failed to act after coming to power. The interests of Gouds and BCs are being ignored,” Srinivas Goud said.

Warning of Public Agitation

Calling for immediate action, he urged the government to fulfil its election promises and prioritize welfare for backward communities. He cautioned that continued neglect would force affected groups to raise their voice in protest.

“Rhetoric and criticism of KCR will not solve problems. Only concrete policy decisions and genuine welfare measures can win the trust of the people,” he stressed.

Srinivas Goud concluded by warning that failure to address BC reservations, compensation for toddy tappers, and the welfare of traditional communities could lead to growing discontent across society.
