Chief Minister Meets Bsnl Chief General Manager, Ne-1 Telecom Circle

Aizawl, Aug 2025 : Chief Minister Pu Lalduhoma met Pi Daily Giri, Chief General Manager of BSNL, NE-1 Telecom Circle, at his office. The discussion focused on increasing the number of telephone towers in Mizoram, setting up more online exam centres, and the construction of Mizoram House in other Indian metropolitan cities.

Pi Daily Giri’s visit to Aizawl followed the earlier meeting held in New Delhi on 10th July between the Chief Minister and BSNL Chairman & Managing Director, Pu A. Robert J. Ravi. The outcomes of that meeting had already been made public through a press release on July 10.

Highlighting the challenges faced by students and job seekers from remote areas of Mizoram, the Chief Minister stressed the need for reliable internet connectivity. Many students are required to travel to Aizawl or district headquarters to appear for online examinations. To address this, BSNL has agreed to establish Online Exam cum Skill Training Centres at BSNL exchanges.

Further, it was noted that better mobile towers are needed to ensure good internet connectivity in remote parts of the state. BSNL has committed to installing 53 new towers across Mizoram. The Chief Minister emphasized that these towers should be set up in priority areas identified by the state government, and that additional proposals could be submitted as required.

Discussions were also held on constructing Mizoram Houses or hostels in other state capitals under a partnership model with BSNL. The implementation of such projects will be coordinated through the General Administration Department (GAD) in collaboration with BSNL.

Improvement of mobile connectivity along railway lines and at new railway stations was also part of the discussions. Pi Daily Giri briefed the Chief Minister on the progress already made by BSNL in this regard.

The meeting was also attended by Pu Sudir Kumar, IAS, Principal Secretary, GAD; Pu L.P. Lalchangkima, MD, ZIDCO; and Pi R. Lalrodingi, OSD to the Chief Minister.
