“Film Study Circle” to be Launched in Film City – Minister Adv. Ashish Shelar
Mumbai, Sept 2025 : To cultivate an audience that appreciates quality cinema and to give film enthusiasts the opportunity to enjoy classic films, Cultural Affairs Minister Adv. Ashish Shelar announced the launch of a unique initiative – “Film Study Circle” – through the Dadasaheb Phalke Film City. He made this announcement during his visit to seek blessings of Lord Ganesh at Film City on the occasion of Ganeshotsav. This year marks the 32nd Ganeshotsav celebration at Film City.
Minister Shelar said that the Department of Cultural Affairs and the Maharashtra Film, Theatre and Cultural Development Corporation have been consistently implementing various schemes, initiatives, and campaigns for the progress of artists. The Film Study Circle will not only nurture an audience for quality films but also provide cine lovers with the rare chance to watch old, classic Marathi films on the big screen.
He further announced that in collaboration with Sahyadri channel, the Corporation will also launch a program to broadcast quality Marathi films on Sahyadri TV. This initiative, he said, will help promote and strengthen Marathi cinema.
Present on the occasion were Swati Mhase Patil, Managing Director of the Corporation, Prashant Sajnijar, Joint Managing Director, renowned filmmaker Subhash Ghai, actor Milind Dastane, and actress Rupali Ganguly.
