Special Initiative by Cooperative Bank in Flood-Hit Mandar

Passbook Distribution and Micro-ATM Services Provide Major Relief to Villagers

Raipur, Sept 2025 : In flood-affected Mandar, a special initiative by the Cooperative Bank has brought significant relief to villagers.

Recently, Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai conducted both aerial and ground inspections of the flood-hit districts in Bastar division. During his visit, he directed the administration to provide sensitive and prompt assistance to affected families at all levels. Acting on these instructions, the villagers of Mandar, who had suffered heavily due to excessive rainfall, received timely relief. Authorized officer of the Bastar District Cooperative Central Bank, Haris S., along with Lohandiguda branch and the Alanar Tribal Service Cooperative Society, helped flood victims regain access to their essential documents and financial resources.

Big Relief for Flood Victims
The floods had washed away household belongings in many Mandar homes, including critical documents such as Aadhaar cards, Ayushman cards, ration cards, and bank passbooks. Without these, villagers struggled to access government schemes and banking services.

Passbook Distribution and Micro-ATM Payments
To resolve this, the District Cooperative Central Bank’s Lohandiguda branch distributed new bank passbooks in the village. At the same time, the Alanar Tribal Service Cooperative Society arranged for a micro-ATM machine. Through this facility, farmers with ATM cards were able to withdraw cash instantly as per their needs.

Support for Farmers’ Livelihoods
This initiative particularly benefited farming families who urgently needed funds to resume agricultural activities. With new passbooks and accessible banking services, they can now withdraw money and restart farming operations. The joint effort of the bank and the cooperative society has provided a crucial lifeline for villagers, helping them rebuild their lives and livelihoods during this challenging time.
