Chief Minister Dr. Yadav Visits Bahuti Waterfall in Mauganj
Bhopal, Sept 2025 : Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav viewed the Bahuti Waterfall located in Nai Garhi Janpad Panchayat during his visit to Mauganj district on Sunday. He admired the spectacular milky cascade of the waterfall and the rainbow formed in its mist from the viewpoint.
CM Dr. Yadav performed ‘Gau Poojan’ at the nearby venue. ‘Gau-sevak’ Saukhilal Yadav of Rakari village, known for his unique ability to call grazing cows in the forest with a single voice, met the Chief Minister on this occasion. Prajapita Brahmakumari Ashram Sister also felicitated CM Dr. Yadav and presented him with a memento.
Traditional Welcome for the Chief Minister
CM Dr. Yadav was given a traditional welcome on his arrival at Bahuti. Students of Government Postgraduate College, Mauganj, performed Bagheli-style dance, while local folk artists
presented the ‘Ahirai’ folk dance.
Deputy Chief Minister Shri Rajendra Shukla, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Animal Husbandry and Dairy and district in-charge minister Shri Lakhan Patel, along with MLAs Shri Girish Gautam, Shri Divyaraj Singh, and Shri Pradeep Patel, Commissioner Rewa Shri B.S. Jamod, IG Shri Gaurav Rajput, Collector Shri Sanjay Jain, SP Shri Prajapati and a large number of citizens were present.
Being Developed as a Tourist Destination
Collector Sanjay Jain informed that a project worth ₹10 crore has been proposed for developing the Bahuti Waterfall as a tourist spot and for improving public facilities. He added that the construction of a stop dam upstream is also proposed, which will ensure a continuous water flow throughout the year, enhancing the grandeur of the waterfall.
Tallest Waterfall in Madhya Pradesh
Situated 75 km from Rewa in Mauganj district, Bahuti is the tallest waterfall not only in the Vindhya region but in the entire Madhya Pradesh. Here, the Sellar River plunges from a height of 650 feet in two streams, forming a beautiful pool below and surrounded by dense forests. The endless flow of water cascades over vertical cliffs, with the waterfall at its scenic best from July to September.
Nearby, the famous Ashtbhuja Devi Temple is located. Bahuti is directly connected by road to Prayagraj and Varanasi, attracting large numbers of tourists from Uttar Pradesh. Prehistoric rock paintings have also been discovered near Bhainsahai, close to the waterfall.
