Always Be Grateful To Parents and Teachers : Governor Shri Patel

Bhopal, Sept 2025 : Governor and Chancellor Shri Mangubhai Patel said that students should always be grateful to their parents and teachers. He urged the students to remember convocation oath and follow it throughout lives. Governor Shri Patel emphasized that universities have a crucial role in realising Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s vision of a new, digital, and ‘Developed India’. He said that convocation marks not only the completion of an academic journey but also the beginning of a life dedicated to serving society and the nation. It is not merely a celebration of receiving degrees, but the result of years of students’ hard work, discipline, and the valuable guidance of their teachers. Governor Shri Patel was addressing the convocation ceremony of Barkatullah University, Bhopal, on Monday.

The ceremony began with Governor Shri Mangubhai Patel and Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav lighting the ceremonial lamp and offering floral tributes to the Godess Saraswati’ at the Kushabhau Thakre International Convention Center. They also released the university’s souvenir and a book. Led by the Governor and Chief Minister, Barkatullah University’s academic procession entered the auditorium amid chanting of mantras. Kulguru Shri Suresh Kumar Jain felicitated Governor Shri Patel with a sapling, angavastra and a memento. Kulguru Shri Jain also delivered the convocation address and administered the oath of convocation to the graduating students.

Faces of Students Lit up with Joy after Receiving Degrees and Gold Medals

Governor Shri Patel stated that, under the National Education Policy, ample opportunities are available for youth at every stage of education, tailored to their skills, interests, and abilities. Today, career prospects are rapidly expanding in fields such as agriculture, food technology, physical education, cyber-security, forensic science, drone technology and law. He urged the youth to use their knowledge and skills for the progress of society and the nation.

Governor Shri Patel awarded degrees and gold medals to the students and congratulated them. He also extended best wishes to Barkatullah University for achieving an ‘A’ grade from NAAC for its efforts in education, research & innovation and for becoming the only university in the state to secure a place in the Global World University Rankings.

Convocation Ceremonies Now Being Organised Reflecting Indian Traditions: CM Dr. Yadav

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav stated that under the guidance of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, Indians are establishing their identity on the global stage through their own capabilities. Correcting past mistakes, convocations are now being organised in accordance with Indian traditions. He said that Madhya Pradesh has been the first state to implement the National Education Policy in 2020.

CM Dr. Yadav said, under Prime Minister Shri Modi, the study of all Indian languages is being actively encouraged and strengthened. Every language spoken in Indian states is a national language of India. The Madhya Pradesh government pioneered medical education in Hindi, earning wide appreciation. He said that education should not be viewed merely as a means of securing employment but as a continuous medium for the dissemination of knowledge in society. In the state, the Vice-Chancellor has been given the new title of ‘Kulguru’, which has also been adopted by Jawaharlal Nehru University, Delhi. Universities in Madhya Pradesh are offering innovation-driven and employment-oriented courses such as Agriculture and Fashion Designing.

Significant Role of Universities in New Medical Colleges and Hospitals

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav highlighted that through Barkatullah University, the aspirations of more than 78,000 students are being realised today, including over 54,000 undergraduates, 23,000 postgraduates, 190 PhD scholars and 21 gold medal recipients. He congratulated all students and faculty members. CM Dr. Yadav further said that the state government is extending full cooperation to private colleges and government universities in establishing medical colleges and hospitals. With the support of Devi Ahilyabai University Indore, a medical college is being established in Jhabua district, which has a predominantly tribal population.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that a new era of good governance has dawned in the country. The government is advancing with a focus on the welfare of youth, farmers and the economically weaker sections. He described Prime Minister Shri Modi as the guardian of the nation’s self-respect and the protector of every section of society. He expressed confidence that the 21st century belongs to India and that the country will emerge as the world’s third-largest economy.

Digital Valuation to Begin in State Universities: Minister Shri Parmar

Technical and Higher Education Minister Shri Inder Singh Parmar said that students have achieved a historic milestone today. He urged that one should always strive to repay the debt of family and society through service. He noted that convocation ceremonies are now being organized in line with Indian traditions across the country. During Chief Minister Dr. Yadav’s tenure as Higher Education Minister, Madhya Pradesh was the first state to implement the National Education Policy. The state government will soon launch digital valuation in all universities, with students receiving answer sheets online. Along with the policy’s implementation, universities will also begin courses in one or two languages, making Madhya Pradesh a true ‘Hriday Pradesh’ by connecting cultures through languages.

Students should dedicate their energy to the nation and society

Administering the convocation oath, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Suresh Kumar Jain urged students never to forget their university and city, wherever they go. He advised them to always follow the path of truth and righteousness, continue self-study, and channel their energy towards the welfare of society and the nation. At the convocation, degrees of D.Litt., PhD, and post-graduate courses were awarded, and gold medals were presented to students who topped their respective faculties.

Additional Chief Secretary (Higher Education) Shri Anupam Rajan, Commissioner Shri Prabal Sipaha, Registrar Shri Anil Sharma, members of the Executive Council, faculty heads, students, and parents were present.
