Steady Decline in Cases Filed Through Court Complaints and Overall Crimes in Rajasthan; Downward Trend Continues for Two Consecutive Years
Jaipur, Sept 2025: The Rajasthan Police’s transparent, impartial, and free-registration policy for lodging cases is showing a significant impact on crime control and grievance redressal in the state.

Thanks to this free-registration policy, not only has there been a continuous decline in the overall crime rate, but there has also been a notable reduction in the number of cases registered through court complaints (Istgasa).
9.67% Decline in Court-Filed Cases
According to data from the Crime Branch at Police Headquarters, under CRPC Section 156(3) (now Section 175(3) of BNSS), a total of 39,634 cases were registered through court complaints in 2023. This figure dropped to 37,794 cases in 2024 — a reduction of 1,840 cases (4.64%) in just one year.
Looking at three-year data (till August):
- By August 2023: 27,603 cases filed through court complaints
- By August 2024: 26,621 cases
- By August 2025: 24,046 cases
This means from 2023 to 2024, there was a reduction of 982 cases (3.56%), and from 2024 to 2025, the decline was sharper at 2,572 cases (9.67%).
19.45% Decline in Overall Crimes Over Two Years
The reduction is not limited to court complaints — overall crime levels in Rajasthan have also dropped significantly.
Based on year-long figures (ending in August):
- By August 2023: 1,63,470 cases registered
- By August 2024: 1,52,936 cases
- By August 2025: 1,31,671 cases
This shows:
- A decline of 31,799 cases (19.45%) from 2023 to 2025
- A decline of 21,265 cases (13.90%) from 2024 to 2025
Month-Specific Data Reinforces the Trend
Even monthly comparisons confirm the downward trajectory.
- In August 2024: 16,927 cases were registered
- In August 2025: the figure dropped to 15,470 cases — a fall of 8.61%
Faster Justice and Public Confidence
These figures clearly indicate strong steps taken to improve the justice system and crime management in the state. The transparent and quick grievance registration process at police stations has reduced the burden on courts and provided citizens with faster access to justice.
Authorities have assured that this system will be further strengthened to deliver greater relief to the public in the future.
Free-Registration Policy Boosting Trust
Under the free-registration system, complaints and cases are thoroughly examined and addressed at the police station level itself, reducing the need for citizens to approach courts. This has enhanced public trust in the police, strengthened law enforcement, and made governance more effective.
