After Devastating Floods, Mann Government Launches Campaign to Bring Punjab Back on Track
Chandigarh, Sept 2025 : To bring Punjab back on track after the devastating floods, the Aam Aadmi Party’s Mann government has launched a major campaign. While floodwaters have receded in many areas, villages are still covered with silt, dirt, and debris. To restore normal life and prevent the outbreak of diseases, the government has prepared a comprehensive plan ranging from cleanliness to healthcare and farmer support.
The Mann government announced that a massive cleanliness drive will be carried out in more than 2,300 villages and wards. JCB machines, tractor-trolleys, and teams of workers are being deployed to each village. These teams will remove debris and silt, dispose of dead animals, and then conduct fogging operations to prevent the spread of diseases. A fund of ₹100 crore has been allocated for this work. Each village has already been given ₹1 lakh immediately, with provisions for additional funds if needed. The government has set targets: debris removal by September 24, repair of public places by October 15, and cleaning of ponds by October 22.
Healthcare has also been given top priority. Medical camps will be set up in 2,303 flood-affected villages. In 596 villages that already have Aam Aadmi Clinics, the camps will function there. In the remaining 1,707 villages, the camps will be organized in schools, dharamshalas, anganwadis, or panchayat buildings. Each camp will have doctors, medical staff, and medicines available. In addition, 550 ambulances are being deployed to ensure immediate treatment for people in need.
The government has also taken steps to protect livestock. Reports indicate that nearly 2.5 lakh animals in 713 villages have been affected. Veterinary teams have already reached the villages. Spoiled fodder is being removed, farmers are being provided potassium permanganate, and vaccination of all affected animals will be completed by September 30.
For farmers, the biggest concern is selling their crops. The Mann government has decided to begin procurement earlier this year. Procurement will start in the mandis on September 16. In mandis damaged by floods, cleaning and repairs are being carried out swiftly so that by September 19, all mandis are ready to buy crops from farmers.
The Mann government emphasized that this is not just relief work but a resolve to rebuild Punjab. The government has appealed to NGOs, youth clubs, and social service organizations to join hands in this effort. Punjab has always fought every crisis together, and no matter how great this challenge may be, when the government stands firmly with its people—every Punjabi can proudly say, “This Mann government stands with us.”
