2 Mizo Battalion NCC Organises Vibrant Village Programme at Lunglawn, Lunglei

Lunglei, Sept 2025: As part of Combined Annual Training Camp-90 and under the directive of National Cadet Corps (NCC) Group Headquarters, Silchar, the 2 Mizo Battalion NCC, Lunglei, successfully organised a Vibrant Village Programme today at Lunglawn, Lunglei.

The programme featured an Awareness Rally on anti-tobacco and drug abuse, friendly football and volleyball matches between cadets and local youth, and an awareness talk on drug and tobacco hazards delivered by officials from the State Excise & Narcotics Department.

The event saw the participation of officers and staff of 2 Mizo Bn NCC led by Commanding Officer, Colonel Sagar K. Mohanty, 247 cadets and 87 villagers, including Local Council members and representatives of the YMA.

For villagers, the programme enhanced awareness about the ill effects of tobacco and drugs, motivated youth towards healthy activities and sports, and strengthened cooperation between the community, YMA, Village Council and government agencies.

For cadets, it provided hands-on experience in community service and awareness campaigns, improved leadership and organisational skills, and offered exposure to rural life and grassroots-level nation-building. It also fostered cultural understanding and team spirit through interaction with local youth.

The initiative received wide appreciation from the Village Council, Young Mizo Association (YMA) and the District Administration, marking it as a significant step towards social awareness, youth engagement and community development in South Mizoram.
