Give the benefit of reduced GST rates to customers, this will make the market more prosperous: Chief Minister

Gorakhpur, Sept 2025 . Next Gen GST Reform (GST reform for the next generation) came into effect from Monday. On this occasion, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath himself launched the first phase of the GST Reform Awareness Campaign, earlier decided by the state government, by directly engaging with traders and customers. On Monday morning, the CM conducted a padyatra (foot march) from Jhulelal Temple to Gorakhnath Temple route, visiting business establishments, talking with traders and customers, and seeking their feedback on GST reforms. He urged traders to definitely pass on the benefit of reduced GST, given as a gift by the Modi government, to customers. At the same time, he appealed to promote indigenous products by putting up posters in establishments that say “Say with pride, this is Swadeshi.”

It is noteworthy that under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the GST Council, in its meeting on September 3, had decided on tax reforms. These decisions became effective from Monday. In this context, CM Yogi Adityanath, in a recent review meeting, had decided to start the first phase of the ‘GST Reform Awareness Campaign’ from September 22 to September 29. On Monday, he inaugurated it himself through padyatra, public contact, and dialogue.

As part of the campaign, CM Yogi Adityanath did a padyatra from Jhulelal Temple to Gorakhnath Temple route, meeting traders and customers in many shops located along the way. During this time, he held discussions with them about the reduced GST rates. He gave them a sticker related to reduced GST rates along with a rose flower. He also said that customers must surely be given the benefit of reduced GST rates. This will not only benefit customers but also make your business more prosperous.

During the campaign, CM Yogi first went to Style Bazaar. Here, the senior management of the establishment welcomed him. The Chief Minister personally pasted a sticker of reduced GST rates at the main gate of the store. With affection, he asked the store’s mentor Rajendra Khurana, MD Shreyansh Khurana, and Director Pradeep Agrawal how much the GST on clothes had decreased. When told that it had reduced from 12% to 5%, the CM said, “This will make your market stronger. For this, thank Prime Minister Narendra Modi and definitely give customers the benefit of reduced GST.” The management informed him that they had already started passing on the benefit of GST reduction to customers. When the CM was about to leave, he presented the store owner with a rose flower.

After this, the Chief Minister walked to New Sweets Palace. Here, he discussed the reduced GST rates with shopkeepers Bihari Lal and Jatin Lal. The shopkeepers said they had already started giving the benefit of reduced prices to customers. The CM gave them a GST reform sticker and said that everyone should express gratitude to PM Modi for the GST reforms. Continuing his contact and dialogue with traders and customers, the CM went to Geeta Wholesale Mart, where he told the store owner Shambhu Shah that regarding the reduction in GST rates, they should also themselves make customers aware. This way, not only customers will benefit, but their market will also prosper. At Prem Medicals, he discussed the reduction in medicine prices. Shopkeepers Vinay Prajapati and Akash Prajapati informed him that tax on life-saving medicines had become zero, and many medicines now had only 5% tax. From today itself, they had started giving customers this benefit.

The CM also interacted on GST reforms with shopkeepers standing in front of City Kart, Shri Homyo Stores, Rangoli Collection, Gorakhnath Misthan, Jaydev Bhavan, Shri Hanuman Katra, and with the family of Chaudhary Kaifulvara standing on Gorakhnath Mandir Marg. He gifted them stickers and said that they should thank Prime Minister Narendra Modi for implementing GST reforms according to the long-standing demand of traders.

During this time, shopkeepers and common people showered flowers to welcome the Chief Minister at several places. Slogans of “Reduced GST, Business Increased, Thank You Modi Government” were raised loudly during the padyatra. On this occasion, MP Ravi Kishan Shukla, Mayor Dr. Manglesh Srivastava, MLC and BJP State Vice President Dr. Dharmendra Singh, MLAs Vipin Singh and Mahendra Pal Singh, BJP Regional President Sahjanand Rai, Metropolitan Convenor Rajesh Gupta, Deputy Speaker of Municipal Corporation Pawan Tripathi, and others also accompanied the CM in the padyatra.
