India Women Beat Pakistan by 88 Runs to Extend Unbeaten Record in 2025 Women’s ODI World Cup

Colombo, Oct 2025 : In their sixth league match of the 2025 Women’s ODI World Cup, India Women delivered a commanding performance against Pakistan Women at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, securing an 88-run victory. This win marks India’s 12th consecutive ODI triumph over Pakistan, maintaining their unbeaten streak against their rivals in women’s cricket.

Pakistan won the toss and elected to field first, allowing India to bat. The Indian innings, though fluctuating at times, saw the team post a competitive 247 runs in 50 overs, setting a target of 248 for Pakistan. Despite a few early starts from the Indian batters, none managed to reach a half-century. However, late striking by Richa Ghosh, who scored 35 not out off 20 balls, ensured India’s total crossed the 240-run mark.

Earlier, Harleen Deol contributed 46 runs, supporting the middle order alongside Jemimah Rodrigues, who scored 32. Smriti Mandhana scored 23, Pratika Rawal added 31, while Harmanpreet Kaur managed 19 runs. Contributions from Deepti Sharma (25) and Sneh Rana (20) helped India navigate the innings to a fighting total. India lost their final wicket in the form of Renuka Singh on the last ball, ending the innings at 247.

Reflecting on India’s innings, Jemimah Rodrigues said, “I think 247 is a fighting total. I was batting in the middle, and the idea was to get Richa in during the last 5–6 overs to allow her freedom to play her shots, which she did superbly. This is a score that gives us a chance, but we still need to bowl and field well to secure the win.”

From Pakistan’s bowling attack, Diana Baig was the pick of the bowlers with 4 wickets, while Sadia Iqbal and captain Fatima Sana claimed 2 wickets each. Kranti Gaud, who picked up three crucial wickets for India, was named Player of the Match for her all-round performance.

Pakistan’s Response

Chasing 248, Pakistan’s batting lineup struggled against India’s disciplined bowling. Muniba Ali was run out for 2, followed by low scores from Sadaf Shamas (6) and Alia Riaz (2). Natalia Pervaiz contributed 33 runs, but captain Fatima Sana fell cheaply for 2. Sidra Amin stood out with a valiant 81 runs, the highest individual score for Pakistan in the match, but she could not prevent a collapse.

India’s bowlers shared the spoils effectively, with Kranti Gaud and Deepti Sharma taking three wickets each, while Sneh Rana chipped in with two scalps. Pakistan were bowled out for 159 runs in 43 overs, handing India a comfortable 88-run victory.

With this victory, India continues its dominant run over Pakistan in women’s ODIs, having never lost to them in the format. The win also reinforces India’s confidence in the ongoing 2025 Women’s World Cup, with the team showing resilience in the middle order and depth in their bowling attack. Pakistan, meanwhile, remains winless in the tournament, still searching for their first victory.

India will look to maintain momentum in the remaining league matches, relying on key performers like Richa Ghosh, Harleen Deol, and Kranti Gaud, while Pakistan will hope Sidra Amin and Diana Baig can inspire a turnaround in their upcoming games.
