CM Yogi targets opposition on issues like unemployment, reservation in recruitment exams and paper leak
Lucknow : During the budget discussion on Thursday, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath criticized the opposition over issues such as unemployment, reservation in recruitment exams, and paper leaks. He accused the previous Samajwadi Party (SP) government of allowing candidates with poor academic records to top the SDM recruitment exams.
Addressing the Vidhan Sabha session, the Chief Minister said, “Earlier, those who were getting third division in high school, intermediate and graduation were topping the SDM recruitment exam. ” He also presented data from the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) to highlight the disparity in the success rates of OBC students during the SP regime compared to the current administration.
“Between 2012 and 2017, the UPPSC selected a total of 26,394 candidates, with OBC candidates securing only 26.38 percent and SC candidates 21.34 percent of the seats. In contrast, from 2017 to the present, 46,675 candidates have been recruited through the UPPSC, with OBC candidates achieving a 38.41 percent success rate and EWS candidates securing 3.74 percent,” Yogi said.
He said that 6.5 lakh government recruitments have been conducted transparently and fairly in the state, with no room for allegations of bias. He asserted that all recruitment processes have adhered strictly to the rules, ensuring equal opportunities for all candidates.
Launching a scathing attack on the Samajwadi Party (SP), the CM said that between 2012 and 2017, all the recruitment examinations including junior engineer recruitment, spokesperson recruitment, technical assistant recruitment, recruitment of teachers in government colleges, recruitment of backlog of medical officers were controversial. He further said that it is not hidden from anyone what kind of comments were made on the then Public Service Commission Chairman and how people tried to mislead, presenting facts in a distorted manner.
The Chief Minister pointed out that during the SP’s tenure, candidates with third-division grades in high school, intermediate, and graduation were topping the SDM recruitment exams. He mentioned that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is currently investigating these irregularities, and once the report is out, the extent of the manipulation will be fully revealed.
CM Yogi emphasized the frustration of the youth during the SP’s rule, noting that many regions of the state were overlooked in recruitment processes. In contrast, he asserted that under his administration, children from every village have benefited from fair recruitment. To ensure transparency, the government has enacted a stringent law against paper leaks on Wednesday itself, which includes life imprisonment, a penalty of Rs 1 crore, confiscation of the entire property, and permanent blacklisting of the involved institutions.
The Chief Minister assured that no youth’s life would be tampered with under his watch. He informed that the state government is going to conduct the written examination for the recruitment of 60,000 police constables this month. Additionally, provisions have been made for transparent recruitment processes in other commissions. Under Mission Rozgar, appointment letters will be issued simultaneously at state and district headquarters, aiming to harness the energy and talent of the youth.
