Padma Shri Mahendra Kapoor Awards and Other Honours Presented; Padma Shri Suresh Wadkar Receives Lifetime Achievement Award

Mumbai, May 2026 : The prestigious “Padma Shri Mahendra Kapoor Awards” and several other distinguished honours, presented for outstanding contributions in the fields of social service, culture, arts, and sports, were distributed in a grand ceremony held at Ravindra Natya Mandir in Prabhadevi. The event was organised by the International Theatre and Sports Foundation (ITSF) and SaiDisha Pratishthan under the initiative of social worker Dattatray Balkrishna Mane. The programme witnessed the presence of several eminent personalities from the fields of art, sports, social work, and administration.

Actor Boman Irani was honoured with the “Padma Shri Mahendra Kapoor Award” for his contribution to the field of acting. Principal Secretary and Director General of the Directorate General of Information and Public Relations, Brijesh Singh, and Deputy Commissioner of Police Bajrang Bansode of the Mumbai Police were honoured with the “Ranzhunjar Award.”

Managing Director of the Maharashtra State Film, Theatre and Cultural Development Corporation, Swati Mhase Patil, and Chief Executive Officer of the Slum Rehabilitation Authority (SRA), Mahendra Kalyankar, were presented with the “Seva Ratna Award.”

The “Maharashtra Icon Award” was conferred upon Santosh Laxman Jadhav, Dr. Sayali Palkhedkar, cricketer Ayush Mhatre, and Dr. Manju Mangal Prabhat Lodha for their achievements in their respective fields.

Veteran singer Suresh Wadkar was honoured with the ITSF Lifetime Achievement Award. Former Indian cricketer Dilip Vengsarkar received the “Jewel of India Award.”

Singers Harshad Golekar, Duhita Golekar, and Shahzad Ali were also presented with the Padma Shri Mahendra Kapoor Award. The “Rising Star Award” was given to singers Jetshen Lama and Devanshriya K. Renowned painter Shekhar Sane was honoured with the “Kala Ratna Award,” while Vishal Chordia of the Suhana Group received the “Udyog Ratna Award.”

During the ceremony, Kaliputra Kalicharan Maharaj recited “Shivstrotra,” adding a spiritual touch to the event. Special children from Ghatkopar also delivered a heartwarming performance that received warm appreciation from the audience.

SaiDisha Pratishthan founder-president Dattatray Mane said that honouring distinguished personalities from various fields became a major attraction for the Mumbai audience and added grandeur to the event.
