Astronomy Labs Established in Jaipur Schools to Foster Scientific Outlook

Jaipur, Oct 2025: In order to realize the objectives of the New Education Policy 2020 and to develop students’ interest in science and an experimental approach, astronomy laboratories have been established in Jaipur district schools. On Saturday, two astronomy labs were inaugurated in the Govindgarh block at PM Shri Government Senior Secondary School, Railway Station, Chomu and Mahatma Gandhi Government School, Bhojlava. The laboratories were constructed by Finova Capital Private Limited, Jaipur under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).

The program, attended by District Head Mrs. Rama Devi Chopra and District Council Chief Executive Officer Mrs. Pratibha Verma, was warmly welcomed by local residents. Addressing the gathering, District Head Mrs. Rama Devi Chopra said that this initiative would connect rural students to a scientific outlook and new possibilities, and lab-based education will aid in the career development of students.

Meanwhile, Mrs. Pratibha Verma stated that the astronomy labs would open a new universe of knowledge for students. She emphasized that this initiative aligns with Saksham Jaipur’s vision of making education multidimensional. She added that, as an innovation, five government schools in Jaipur district have been equipped with astronomy laboratories. The labs aim to familiarize students with space science and provide opportunities to understand astronomical phenomena experimentally.

The laboratories have been equipped with 69 modern instruments, including lunar models, solar energy kits, solar filters, atomic balls, Dobsonian telescopes, ray optics kits, solar and lunar eclipse models, anti-gravity experiments, convex mirrors, heart and brain models, chemistry and biology kits.

The labs were constructed by Astroscope Company in collaboration with Finova Capital Private Limited, Jaipur. The company also provided training to science teachers and students on the use of the equipment. The program was attended by Additional District Program Coordinator Mr. Deepak Shukla, Chief Block Education Officer Mr. Kripanidhi Tripathi, Mr. Sitaram (Manager, Capital Finance), school staff, and a large number of local residents.
