Madhya Pradesh Setting New Benchmarks in Agriculture

Under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, the Government of Madhya Pradesh is deeply committed to agricultural development and the welfare of farmers. The state is introducing innovations in productive activities and creating new records in the agriculture sector. Madhya Pradesh has earned several national awards for record production. The State secured first position in pulses production, second in food grains, and third in oilseeds. The area under triple-cropping has also increased significantly in the state.

To discourage stubble burning, effective steps have been taken across districts. Various initiatives implemented through the Departments of Agriculture, Horticulture & Food Processing, Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Protection, have markedly improved the economic condition of farmers.

Respect and Incentives for Farmers

During Rabi 2024–25, state government provided an incentive of ₹175 per quintal on procured wheat. In February 2025, Prime Minister Narendra Modi transferred around ₹1,770 crore to the accounts of over 83.5 lakh farmers under PM Kisan Samman Nidhi. Similarly, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav transferred ₹1,624 crore to more than 81 lakh farmers under the Mukhyamantri Kisan Kalyan Yojana through single-click disbursal.

First-Time Procurement of Soybean at MSP

For the first time, Madhya Pradesh procured soybean under the Government of India’s Price Support Scheme. A total of 6.22 lakh metric tonnes were purchased from 2,12,568 farmers at a minimum support value of ₹3,043.04 crore. To promote the cultivation of millets, the Rani Durgavati Shree Ann Protsahan Yojana has been launched, under ₹3,900 per hectare directly credited to farmers’ bank accounts.

In addition to MSP benefits, farmers are also availing the advantages of the Crop Insurance Scheme, Kisan Credit Cards, Soil Health Cards and expanded irrigation facilities. Under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, timely assessment and compensation for crop loss are being provided. The state received a Certificate of Excellence for successfully integrating land records with the NCIP portal, ensuring transparency in enrolment and claim processes.

Under the NaMo Drone Didi initiative, 89 women in Madhya Pradesh have been empowered through drone-assisted farming, spraying liquid fertilizers across 4,200 hectares, earning a net income of ₹21.22 lakh. A total of 1,066 ‘Didis’ are set to benefit from the scheme during FY 2025–26.

Multiple Steps to Prevent Stubble Burning

To curb residue burning, over 46,800 farm machinery units related to straw management have been distributed with subsidies totaling ₹412 crore. Skill development centers are providing training for drone pilots and technicians, with the state government covering 50% of the training cost. So far, 412 youths have been trained as drone pilots and 33 as drone technicians.

Affordable Farm Equipment and Youth Empowerment

In line with Sankalp one thousand Custom Hiring Centers are being established annually to provide affordable farm machinery and promote rural self-employment. A total of 4,730 centers have been established, with a subsidy of up to 40% or ₹10 lakh available for projects costing up to ₹25 lakh. Under APEDA, 20.55 lakh hectares, including 11.48 lakh hectares of cultivation and forest produce collection area, are registered as organic zones.

Under the One District One Product (ODOP) scheme, the agricultural products Kodo-Kutki (Anuppur, Dindori, Mandla and Singrauli), Toor Dal (Narsinghpur), Chickpea (Damoh), Basmati Rice (Raisen), Chinnor Rice (Balaghat) and Mustard (Bhind and Morena) are included.

Transparent Market Access via Farm Gate App

Through the Farm Gate App, farmers can upload produce details and photos, negotiate directly with registered traders, and finalise deals online. Once an agreement is reached, traders collect produce directly from farms, eliminating the need for physical transport to mandis and reducing uncertainties in sales. Additionally, farmers can now sell crops from their fields or warehouses to mandi-registered traders.

Rani Durgavati Shree Ann Protsahan Yojana

Under this scheme, farmers receive ₹1,000 per quintal, up to a maximum of ₹3,900 per hectare. A fund of ₹600 crore has been allocated this year for short-term crop loans at zero percent interest. Last year, farmers received a bonus of ₹125 per quintal on wheat procured at the support price.
