BJP’s Lankala Deepak Reddy Files Nomination for Jubilee Hills Bypoll in Hyderabad
Hyderabad, Oct 2025 : Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Lankala Deepak Reddy on Tuesday filed his nomination for the Jubilee Hills Assembly bypoll in Hyderabad.
Deepak Reddy submitted his nomination papers to Returning Officer P. Sairam at the Shaikpet MRO office, arriving there in a massive rally accompanied by senior party leaders and workers.
Before filing his nomination, the BJP candidate performed a puja at the Vijayadurga temple in Venkatagiri, joined by Union Minister for Coal and Mines G. Kishan Reddy, Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar, and state BJP president Ramchander Rao. Several leaders, including MP Raghunandan Rao, also participated in the rally.
A large number of BJP workers, waving party flags and raising slogans, marched through different parts of the Jubilee Hills constituency before reaching the MRO office. The rally reflected the party’s determination to strengthen its presence in Hyderabad’s key urban constituency.
Deepak Reddy, who had contested unsuccessfully from Jubilee Hills in the 2023 Assembly elections, is once again seeking to make a mark in the upcoming bypoll. In the previous election, Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) candidate Maganti Gopinath won the seat for the third consecutive term, defeating Congress candidate and former Indian cricket captain Mohammed Azharuddin by 16,337 votes.
In that contest, Gopinath secured 80,549 votes, Azharuddin polled 64,212 votes, while Deepak Reddy finished third with 25,866 votes.
The by-election was necessitated following Gopinath’s demise in June this year. The BRS has fielded his wife, Maganti Sunitha, as its candidate, while the ruling Congress has nominated Naveen Yadav.
According to the Election Commission of India’s schedule, October 21 was the last date for filing nominations, with scrutiny set for October 22. Candidates can withdraw their nominations until October 24. Polling will be held on November 11, and votes will be counted on November 14.
Meanwhile, state BJP president Ramchander Rao campaigned actively in the constituency on Tuesday. He interacted with local residents, stopped for breakfast at a neighborhood hotel, and discussed key civic and development issues with voters, underscoring the BJP’s grassroots approach to the campaign.
