Women Set New Benchmark of Self-Reliance Through the ‘Lakhpati Didi’ Scheme

Raipur, Nov 2025 : Women in the Bastar district are setting remarkable examples of self-reliance through the Lakhpati Didi Scheme, turning to self-employment and transforming their lives. Members of self-help groups—Kalabatti Poyam, Mangtin, Kamli Kashyap, Pramila Thakur, and Shobha Baghel—have reached new heights of success under the scheme with their hard work and determination.

Kalabatti and Mangtin Generate Additional Income Through Animal Husbandry

Kalabatti Poyam and Mangtin, members of the Ujala Self-Help Group in Bhadisgaon, Tokapal development block, once struggled to support their families on limited income. Today, they earn lakhs annually through agriculture and animal husbandry. After joining the group and connecting with the Bihan scheme, both women received funds through the Community Investment Fund and bank linkage.
Kalabatti expanded into duck farming, while Mangtin developed goat farming as an additional income source. They also adopted modern farming techniques. Their tireless efforts have resulted in financial prosperity, turning them into inspirations for other rural women.

Kamli Becomes Self-Reliant as a Grocery Shop Owner

Residents of Matkot, Kamli Kashyap and Pramila Thakur, have brought positive changes to their lives by engaging in agriculture, animal husbandry, and running a grocery shop. Both began on a small scale, but with group support and guidance under the Lakhpati Didi Scheme, they now earn a stable income and have become the economic backbone of their families.
After joining the Bihan scheme, Kamli earned a profit of ₹45,000 by cultivating maize on two acres of land with the help of funds received from the Community Investment Fund and bank linkage. She used this profit to open a small grocery shop and also started poultry farming.
Pramila utilized these funds to expand her agricultural activities and duck farming.

Shobha Engages in Jute Product Manufacturing

Shobha Baghel from Parchanpal village used her skills to start producing sisal jute products. Her dedication and creativity have not only made her self-reliant but have also created employment opportunities for other local women. Her products are now becoming popular in local markets.

All these women prove that with the right opportunities and guidance, rural women can also achieve financial empowerment and progress on the path to becoming “Lakhpati Didis.” The Lakhpati Didi Scheme has not only improved their financial conditions but also boosted their confidence and social standing.
Today, these women stand as inspiring examples—true symbols of a self-reliant India.
