Chandigarh, Nov 2025 : The Punjab Government on Thursday accorded a grand and warm welcome at Shaheed Bhagat Singh International Airport to Indian women’s cricket team players Harleen Deol and Amanjot Kaur, who returned home after creating history by helping India win its first-ever Women’s Cricket World Cup.

Ministers and MLAs Honour the Daughters of Punjab

On behalf of the Punjab Government, Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema and MP Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer specially arrived at the airport to welcome the players. They were joined by MLA Dr. Amandeep Kaur Arora, District Planning Board Chairperson Prabhjot Kaur, Jaswant Kaur, and Councillor Sarabjit Singh Samana.
A celebratory atmosphere prevailed at the airport, where the state government, district administration, and sports department honoured the victorious players with dhol beats, flower garlands, and enthusiastic celebrations.

Government Announces Special Honour

It is noteworthy that Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann had already congratulated team captain Harmanpreet Kaur, Harleen Deol, and Amanjot Kaur via video call for their historic achievement. Harpal Singh Cheema and Meet Hayer said that these daughters have made not only Punjab but the entire nation proud. They announced that once captain Harmanpreet Kaur returns to Punjab, the state government will give all three players a special honour.
