CM Dr. Mohan Yadav Urges for Wide Participation in the Geeta Gyan Competition
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has directed all arrangements to be completed for the dignified organization of Geeta Jayanti and the International Geeta Festival in the state. He also emphasised the need for maximum participation in the online Shrimad Bhagavad Gita Knowledge Competition. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav issued the instructions during a meeting with senior officials on Friday at Samatva Bhavan.
An online Shrimad Bhagavad Gita Knowledge Competition is being held in Madhya Pradesh from November 7 to 25, as part of the 70th foundation year celebrations. There will be 70 prizes, including a first prize of ₹1,00,000 and a second prize of ₹51,000. Other prizes include three third prizes of ₹31,000, fifteen laptops, thirty e-bikes, and twenty e-rickshaws. Students aged 11 to 25 achieving outstanding scores will be awarded scholarships for up to two years. Citizens, students, and even inmates will be eligible to participate in the competition, which is being organized in collaboration with educational institutions across the state.
Madhya Pradesh Cuisine and Arts to Feature at International Geeta Mahotsav in Kurukshetra
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav reviewed preparations for the International Geeta Festival 2025, scheduled for November 24 to December 1 in Kurukshetra. Madhya Pradesh will showcase its regional and tribal cuisine at the event, along with exhibitions, fairs and drama festivals organized by the Madhya Pradesh Tribal Folk Art and Language Development Academy. Stage performances will feature renowned artists from Mumbai and Ujjain, along with tribal dance performances curated by the Tribal Museum.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav also discussed the participation of organizations like Shrikrishna Pathey Nyas, Maharaja Vikramaditya Research Peeth, Veer Bharat Nyas, and various other state and national educational and cultural bodies. He instructed that Geeta Bhavans and other sites related to Shrikrishna Pathey be completed in the identified towns. He also gave directions for innovative programs involving university, college, and school students at the closure of the Employment and Industry Year 2025.
Preparations in Ujjain and Bhopal for the International Geeta Festival
The Chief Minister was briefed on preparations for the International Geeta Festival to be held from December 1–3 in Ujjain. Award-winning participants of the online Geeta competition will be felicitated here, with a target of 2.1 million participants this year. Scheduled events on December 1 at Dussehra Maidan include Geeta recitation, an exhibition, and musical performances; December 2 will feature poetry readings and music, and December 3 will include ensemble performances from Bangalore and Bhopal.
In Bhopal, on December 1, there will be a melodious recitation of the 15th chapter of the Geeta at Lal Parade Ground, presided over by scholars. There will also be exhibitions centered on cows and cowherds and a “Geeta on Wheels” musical show from Bangalore. Ravindra Bhavan’s Hansdhwani Auditorium will feature the “Krishnayan” presentation, inclusive of performances by differently-abled artists.
District-Level Events
Geeta recitations will take place at the block level on December 1, with scholarly-led recitations at district headquarters. Special programs will be held at renowned sites associated with Lord Krishna, such as Janapav in Indore, Amjhera in Dhar, Narayana in Ujjain, Chanderi in Ashoknagar, Jamgarh in Raisen, Piwadia-Khatgaon in Dewas, Eran in Sagar, and in Panna. Krishna temples across districts will be specially decorated and lectures by saints and scholars will be organized.
Vikramotsav 2026 Planning
There was also discussion regarding the organization of Vikramotsav 2026, which will commence on February 15, 2026, and continue with various activities until March 19, 2026. Following that, from March 19 to June 30, events related to the Jal Ganga Conservation Campaign will take place. Vikramotsav will feature Shiva worship arts, ceremonial processions, exhibitions, recitations, commercial and puppet fairs, workshops, symposiums, poetry festivals, folk entertainment, an international mythological film festival, the Mahakal Earth Time Research Symposium, Vedic quizzes, and sun worship rituals, with programs held in districts statewide.
The meeting was attended by CM’s Cultural Advisor, Shri Shriram Tiwari and senior officials from various departments.
