Rohini’s Tears, Sisters’ Exit: Yadav Family Rift Explodes
Patna, Nov 2025 : The Rashtriya Janata Dal’s (RJD) heavy defeat in the Bihar Assembly elections has triggered a major upheaval within Lalu Prasad Yadav’s family, with a series of emotional allegations, public statements, and sudden departures drawing widespread attention. What began as political disappointment has now escalated into a deeply personal crisis for the family, especially after dramatic claims made by Lalu’s daughter, Rohini Acharya, who had famously donated a kidney to her father in 2022.
According to her social media posts over the weekend, Rohini held herself responsible for the party’s election loss and announced that she was distancing herself from both the RJD and her family. She stated that the emotional stress caused by the defeat and the reactions within the family had become unbearable.
The situation intensified when three of Lalu Prasad Yadav’s daughters—Rajlaxmi, Ragini, and Chanda—left the family’s Patna residence with their children and reportedly travelled to Delhi on Sunday. Their departure has fueled speculation of a widening rift within the family following the electoral setback.
Rohini’s Allegations Against Tejashwi
In a series of posts shared on Saturday and Sunday, Rohini accused her brother, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, of scolding and blaming her for the party’s defeat. She further alleged—again, via social media—that she was “insulted and abused,” claiming that Tejashwi told her she had given their father a “dirty kidney.” She also alleged that at one point slippers were thrown at her, a claim that has sparked outrage among her supporters online.
These allegations remain unverified and have not yet been responded to publicly by Tejashwi Yadav or other senior RJD leaders. Party insiders have expressed concern that the escalating public feud could harm the party’s efforts to regroup after the election.
Rohini also claimed that her emotional breakdown led her to leave the Patna residence on Saturday, after which she reportedly travelled abroad, possibly to Singapore.

Her Emotional Statement on Donating a Kidney
Rohini, 46, wrote a deeply personal account regarding her kidney donation to her father. She said that instead of support, she was now facing accusations and hurtful remarks about her decision. According to her, some family members claimed that she had accepted “crores of rupees and tickets” in exchange for the donation—allegations she strongly rejected.
She added that not seeking permission from her husband or in-laws before the donation was now being portrayed as a “mistake,” which she described as extremely painful. “I committed this sacrifice to save my father, my God. Today that sacrifice is being called dirty,” she wrote.
In an emotional appeal to women, she said that daughters should be careful before taking such steps for their parents if male family members are present. “Let the son or one of his friends donate a kidney,” she wrote, suggesting that her own experience had left her disillusioned.
A Daughter’s Pain and a Family Under Strain
Rohini described her departure from the family home as heartbreaking. “Yesterday, a daughter was forced to leave her crying parents and sisters. They took me away from my birthplace. They left me orphaned,” she wrote in her post. She urged others not to follow her path and expressed regret that she was unable to strengthen her family during a crisis.
As the political implications of the RJD’s electoral defeat continue to unfold, the internal turmoil within the Yadav family—one of Bihar’s most influential political households—has added a dramatic and emotional dimension to the post-poll landscape. For now, the family has not issued any collective statement, and the situation remains fluid as supporters, party workers, and the public watch closely for further developments.
