Iran’s Supreme Leader Denies Claims of Sending Message to the US
Tehran, Nov 2025 : Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei on Thursday dismissed as “fabricated rumors” recent claims that Tehran had sent a message to the United States through third countries.
In a televised address, Khamenei appeared to reject Western media reports suggesting that a message delivered earlier this month by Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian to Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman ahead of the latter’s US visit was meant for Washington, Xinhua news agency reported.
“They fabricate rumors claiming that the Iranian government has sent a message to the United States through some country, which is pure lies. Such a thing definitely did not exist,” Khamenei said.
According to media reports, Pezeshkian’s letter emphasized that Iran “does not seek confrontation,” aims to strengthen regional cooperation, and is “open to resolving the nuclear dispute through diplomacy, provided its rights are guaranteed.” Iranian officials in recent days reiterated that the message addressed only bilateral issues with Saudi Arabia.
In his speech, Khamenei also strongly criticized the United States for supporting Israel’s “wars and crimes” in West Asia, accusing Washington of exacerbating global conflicts to secure strategic advantages and resources.
Tehran and Washington held five rounds of indirect, Oman-mediated talks on Iran’s nuclear program and US sanctions between April and June, with a sixth round planned before Israel launched surprise strikes on multiple Iranian sites. These attacks killed senior commanders, nuclear scientists, and civilians, prompting Iran to retaliate with missile and drone strikes.
On June 22, US forces targeted Iran’s nuclear facilities in Natanz, Fordow, and Isfahan. Iran responded the following day with strikes on the US Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar. A ceasefire between Iran and Israel came into effect on June 24, temporarily halting hostilities in the region.
Khamenei’s remarks signal Tehran’s firm rejection of Western speculation regarding its communications with Washington, while reiterating its stance on regional diplomacy and condemnation of US-Israel actions in West Asia.
