Madhya Pradesh’s Higher Education Innovations Gain Nationwide Recognition

‘Indian Knowledge Tradition’ Book Emerges as a Model for Other States

Under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, Madhya Pradesh has earned the distinction of being the first state in the country to implement the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav believes that NEP 2020 offers an education system rooted in the Indian ethos, one that plays a vital role in nation-building. He emphasised that India’s journey towards becoming a ‘Developed Nation’ by 2047 will require the strength and spirit of the Indian knowledge tradition. Study and research based on this tradition form one of the core focus areas of NEP 2020, and it will play an important role in addressing future challenges while strengthening the foundational roots of national development.

Warm Acceptance Among Students

According to the Chief Minister, NEP 2020 aims to nurture citizens who embody Indian thought, intellect, and conduct, and who remain committed to global welfare. Indian culture and tradition hold a unique identity worldwide, not merely as a concept, but as sources of pride and dignity. India has always guided the world through its vast reservoir of knowledge gained through research and experience.

In this spirit, and under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Yadav, an encouraging environment is being created in the state by promoting the Indian knowledge tradition. To integrate this tradition into NEP 2020 curricula, the Madhya Pradesh Hindi Granth Academy has published the book ‘Indian Knowledge Tradition’. This publication has added a new dimension to education across the state, and the innovation has resonated nationally. Students have not only appreciated this initiative but have also widely welcomed this unique addition to their academic ecosystem.

Ujjain among India’s Ancient Centers of Learning

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav reiterates that education is a continuous process. NEP 2020 focuses on enhancing academic quality, logical thinking, sensitivity, character-building and ethics among students. It also recommends the inclusion of the Indian knowledge tradition at all levels of education. Integrating this knowledge system with the education structure will help disseminate ancient wisdom across all sections of society.

India possesses a treasure of accumulated knowledge, expressed through its art, literature, customs, languages, architecture and cultural practices. The Indian knowledge tradition, rooted in Sanatan culture, harmoniously blends ancient wisdom with modernity. Historically, students from many countries came to centres such as Ujjain, Takshashila, Nalanda, Vikramshila, Vallabhi, and Kashi for higher learning. Vision, human welfare and deep cultural grounding have always remained central to India’s knowledge systems. It is now essential to remain connected to these roots and integrate both ancient and modern Indian knowledge systems into contemporary education wherever relevant.

Hindi Granth Academy’s Initiative Widely Appreciated

Under the Chief Minister’s guidance, the contributions of Indian knowledge tradition have been incorporated at the collegiate level across various subjects. These include science and technology, character-building and holistic personality development, mathematics, social systems, music, arts, management, political thought, geography, psychology, environment, philosophy, astronomy and other disciplines that reflect centuries of India’s rich scholarly heritage.

Book Receives Wide Appreciation

The publication focused on the Indian knowledge tradition, has been highly appreciated by both students and educators. The Madhya Pradesh Hindi Granth Academy’s initiative to publish the book ‘Indian Knowledge Tradition’ has proved immensely helpful for teachers, students, and scholars in understanding and assimilating Indian concepts. The Academy’s efforts have been widely praised, and educationists from other states have studied the book with great interest, finding inspiration to promote similar innovations in their own regions.
