Revanth Reddy Urges Voters to Elect Strong Local Leaders, Promises Transformation of Palamuru and Telangana’s Rural Landscape

Hyderabad, Dec 2025 : Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy called upon voters to choose capable and responsible leaders as sarpanches to ensure the holistic development of their villages. As the state prepares for the upcoming three-phase Gram Panchayat elections, the Chief Minister has begun an extensive district tour to review development works and engage directly with citizens. Addressing a large public meeting in Makthal after laying the foundation stone for multiple development projects, he urged people to reject parties that he said had slowed the state’s progress.

Revanth Reddy recalled that the people of Palamuru (Mahbubnagar) district played a pivotal role in strengthening the Congress, electing 12 MLAs and contributing to his rise as the youngest Chief Minister of Telangana. He came down heavily on former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao, alleging that the BRS government had ignored the region for a decade. “This land supported KCR during the Telangana movement and sent him to the Lok Sabha. But after becoming Chief Minister, he did not even allocate ₹12 crore for development,” he said. He added that major projects such as the Palamuru-Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme and the Kodangal–Narayanpet Lift Scheme remained incomplete throughout the BRS regime.

The Chief Minister stated that the “people’s government” had already revived efforts to complete the Palamuru project. He accused opposition parties of creating obstacles by filing court cases against the project’s progress. Revanth Reddy said that land acquisition had largely been completed, with 96 percent of farmers receiving compensation of ₹20 lakh each. He confirmed that land acquisition for the Narayanpet–Kodangal Lift Scheme was finished and that work would commence soon.

He also criticised the previous government for leaving behind a massive financial burden of nearly ₹8 lakh crore on the state exchequer. Despite these constraints, he said, the Congress government was committed to fulfilling promises and pushing ahead with developmental and welfare initiatives. “It is my responsibility to complete the Palamuru project and ensure irrigation water reaches every farmer,” he reaffirmed.

Revanth Reddy highlighted the state’s efforts to reshape Telangana’s economic future and attract large-scale global investments. He said the government was hosting a global summit to showcase Telangana’s strengths and position it as one of India’s premier investment destinations. He reiterated his vision of transforming Telangana into a $1 trillion economy by 2034 and a $3 trillion economy by 2047, aligning the state with India’s long-term growth aspirations.

Emphasising that education remains a top priority for the government, the Chief Minister announced that a Young India Integrated School would be established in every constituency. Fourteen such schools are planned for the Palamuru region, along with a new Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) to further strengthen higher education infrastructure. Revanth Reddy said he was determined to transform Palamuru into a model district for the nation.

The Chief Minister also detailed several welfare schemes launched in the past two years, including free travel for women in RTC buses, 200 units of free electricity for economically vulnerable households, high-quality rice for white ration card holders, and farm loan waivers. He added that the government had spent ₹1.04 lakh crore on farmer welfare alone, while also taking concrete steps to enhance the economic empowerment of women.

Revanth Reddy underscored that the caste census was conducted to support backward communities and ensure equitable development. Telangana, he noted, has become the first state in the country to introduce sub-categorization of Scheduled Castes to guarantee fair and targeted distribution of benefits.
