Iprp&S Minister Presents Honour To Pu Napoleon Rz Thanga, First Mizo Selected As Jury Member In Iffi–Indian Panorama

Aizawl, Dec 2025: Today, Pu B. Lalchhanzova, Minister of Information & Public Relations, Printing & Stationery (IPRP&S), presented an honour to Pu Napoleon RZ Thanga—who has been selected as the first Mizo jury member in the Indian Panorama (Feature Film) section of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI)—at his office chamber in MINECO.

Minister Pu B. Lalchhanzova said that for a Mizo filmmaker like Pu Napoleon to be selected as a jury member in IFFI–Indian Panorama, one of the most respected and competitive platforms at the national level, is a matter of great pride. He added that Mizoram has grown remarkably in the field of filmmaking over the last two–three years, and besides benefiting the economy, the industry has become an important source of livelihood for many youth. Therefore, improving the quality of films and organizing more film festivals in Mizoram are important, and support will be given to further strengthen the Mizoram film industry and to make better films.

Pu Napoleon has been making films since 2006 and has made more than 20 documentaries and 4 short films. He has produced various documentaries for Films Division, DDK–Aizawl, NEZCC (Ministry of Culture), and for State Government departments such as Art & Culture, Agriculture, and Sports. His films have been screened at several festivals including the Mumbai International Film Festival (MIFF), IFFI Goa, Yamagata (YIDFF), Bangladesh, GIDSAF Guwahati, BVFF (Guwahati), SASF Kolkata, MIDSFF Madurai, Himalayan International Film Festival Ladakh, Itanagar, Imphal, Delhi, and others.

His documentary ‘Malsawmi’, highlighting the issue of female child abuse, won Best Film and Best Direction at the 1st Festival of North East Film 2010 in Shillong, and also won 3rd Best Film at the We Care Film Festival in New Delhi.

In 2016, Pu Napoleon served as a film selection member at the Mumbai International Film Festival (MIFF) organised by the Ministry of I&B. In 2023, he represented Mizoram among the North East delegates at the Cannes Film Festival. In the 56th edition of IFFI this year, he is one among the 12 people selected as jury members for the Indian Panorama (Feature Film) category.
