E-Challan Settlements Won’t Be Accepted in 13 December Lok Adalat; Citizens Should Not Fall for Rumors

Mumbai, December 2025 : In the Lok Adalat to be held across the state on 13 December 2025, e-challan cases will not be settled, according to a clarification issued by the office of the Additional Director General of Police (Traffic), Maharashtra State, Mumbai.

Since 2021, the Traffic Department has been making efforts, with approval from the Maharashtra State Legal Services Authority, to resolve pending e-challan cases. However, in the upcoming Lok Adalat, the Traffic Department will not place any e-challan cases for settlement, it was stated.

Meanwhile, it has come to notice that false claims are circulating on YouTube, Instagram, and other social media, suggesting that e-challan fines will be waived or reduced in the 13 December Lok Adalat. Such rumors may lead to financial fraud against citizens, and the police have urged the public to remain vigilant.

Traffic Department Appeal to Citizens

Do not believe any social media misinformation regarding e-challan settlements or fine concessions. Do not pay e-challan amounts through unauthorized links. If a citizen’s case has been placed for settlement by the local District Legal Services Authority, they should directly contact the concerned court or local traffic police, informed Police Superintendent (Headquarters) Sunil Bharwad on behalf of the Additional Director General of Police (Traffic).
