Rajasthan’s Stepwells to Be Conserved; Shilp Gram to Become a New Hub for Folk Arts — Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari

Jaipur, December 2025 : Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Tourism, Art and Culture, Diya Kumari, said that Rajasthan Tourism is continuously setting new milestones and establishing a new identity on the global tourism map. The unprecedented success achieved in the tourism sector over the past two years has given Rajasthan a strong presence at the international level.

Diya Kumari stated that in line with the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to make Rajasthan the leading tourism state of India, it is essential to preserve the state’s rich heritage. Accordingly, instructions have been issued to prepare a comprehensive action plan for the conservation of Rajasthan’s historic stepwells by the Departments of Tourism and Art & Culture.

In the review meeting of the Tourism Department held at the Secretariat, the Deputy Chief Minister, in the presence of Additional Chief Secretary for Tourism Shri Praveen Gupta, Commissioner Smt. Rukmani Riyar, and other senior officials, directed that departmental schemes be accelerated and taken forward at a fast pace.

She also emphasized developing the Shilp Gram located at Jawahar Kala Kendra, Jaipur, as a major center for the preservation of folk arts and folk artists.

Diya Kumari added that it is the government’s priority to advance the state’s cultural heritage alongside its modern development journey.
