Dutch Foreign Minister David Weel Meets CM Devendra Fadnavis to Explore Maharashtra’s Trade and Development Opportunities
Mumbai, December 2025: Dutch Foreign Minister David Weel met Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. The meeting took place at the Chief Minister’s residence, “Varsha,” and was attended by P. Anbalagan, Secretary of the Industry Department; Dr. Rajesh Gawande, Secretary and Head of the Protocol Department; Kaustubh Dhawse, Investment and Policy Advisor to the Chief Minister; and Pradeep P., CEO of Maharashtra Maritime Board. The Dutch delegation included Ambassador Morisa Gerards and Commercial Counsellor General Nabil Taouati.
The discussion focused on the various opportunities available in Maharashtra across multiple sectors. Trade, economy, infrastructure, and industrial development were key topics of the meeting.
CM Fadnavis stated, “The government supports the use of international-standard technologies. With participation from the Netherlands, several sectors such as fisheries can be further developed.”
Foreign Minister David Weel shared information about the Dutch contribution in systems and materials, advanced machinery, electronics, and high-technology and innovative initiatives in research and development.
