Let Us Commit Through Action to Walk the Path of Humanity: CM Fadnavis Appeals Tribute to the Valour of the Sahibzadas on Veer Bal Diwas
Mumbai, December 2025 : December 26 is observed as Veer Bal Diwas in memory of the unparalleled bravery and supreme sacrifice of Sahibzade Baba Zorawar Singh (aged 9) and Sahibzade Baba Fateh Singh (aged 7), the sons of the tenth Sikh Guru, Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji. On the occasion of Veer Bal Diwas, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said that we must take a pledge through our actions to walk on the path of humanity shown by the Gurus and to imbibe their ideals in our lives. He said that the courage and sacrifice of the Sahibzadas gave a new direction to Indian history and that their valour will continue to inspire generations to come.
A programme was organised at Gurdwara Guru Teg Bahadur Darbar in Sion to mark Veer Bal Diwas. On this occasion, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis paid humble tributes to the martyred Sahibzadas and remembered their extraordinary courage. Members of the Gurdwara Committee presented kirtans and poetry recitations and paid their respects to the brave martyr Sahibzadas.
MLA Prasad Lad, MLA Tamil Selvan, State-level Coordinator of the 350th Martyrdom Commemoration Committee of Shri Guru Teg Bahadur Ji, Rameshwar Naik, Executive President of the Punjabi Sahitya Academy Bal Malkit Singh, Gurdwara Committee members Daljeet Singh, Gurdev Singh, Jaspal Singh Sidhu, Happy Singh, Dr Ajaysing Rathod, along with a large number of citizens, were present on the occasion.
Bal Malkit Singh welcomed Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and expressed gratitude to him for the initiative taken by the government to highlight the glorious history of the Sikh Gurus.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Fadnavis said that the nation will never forget the great sacrifice of Guru Teg Bahadur Sahib Ji, who laid down his head for the country. The sacrifices made by Guru Teg Bahadur Sahib Ji and his entire family for the nation, culture, and values are immortal in history. He described the decision to observe Veer Bal Diwas on December 26 as significant and said that the history of Guru Teg Bahadur Ji, who protected righteousness till his last breath, should always be remembered.
The Chief Minister said that Veer Bal Diwas commemorates the unparalleled courage and sacrifice of Sahibzade Baba Zorawar Singh and Sahibzade Baba Fateh Singh. On this occasion, he appealed to everyone to bow in reverence to these brave martyrs and pray that their steadfastness, courage, and devotion may also be instilled in us.
Chief Minister Fadnavis further said that the sacrifices made by Guru Gobind Singh Ji’s entire family have always remained a source of inspiration for the nation. Despite enduring immense suffering, Guru Gobind Singh Ji never deviated from his mission. All Sikh Gurus set a supreme example before the world through their sacrifices for humanity, freedom of faith, and the protection of values. The cruelty of that era was so severe that even young children like Sahibzade Baba Zorawar Singh and Baba Fateh Singh were martyred. He added that the state government is also observing the martyrdom commemoration year of Guru Teg Bahadur Ji, known as Hind Di Chadar, who made the supreme sacrifice for the protection of the nation and its culture.
The Chief Minister said that through Gurbani, this great tradition continues to guide humanity on the righteous path even today. The teachings of the Gurus constantly inspire people to give meaning to life and serve humanity. India and the entire world will never forget these great sacrifices, as it is because of their sacrifice that our existence, faith, language, and culture have survived. He said that everyone must bow in humility before these supreme sacrifices.
Chief Minister Fadnavis said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has emphasised that remembering those whose sacrifices ensure our existence is the path to a successful future. He noted that the decision to celebrate Veer Bal Diwas was taken in memory of the valour of the Sahibzadas. On this day, he appealed to everyone to collectively remember the sacrifices of the Gurus and their families, take a pledge to protect humanity, and resolve to walk on the path shown by the Gurus. He added that it is a matter of great pride and significance that the Nanak Naamleva community has received the right way of life through the teachings of the Gurus.
