Gita Bhavan is unique confluence of modern and ancient knowledge systems: CM Dr. Yadav
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav stated that Gita Bhavans are being established across the state to promote social harmony through religious, spiritual and literary awareness among citizens. He said these centres are not merely physical structures, but living hubs of intellectual engagement. Through a unique synthesis of modernity and ancient knowledge traditions, they will enable the younger generation to reconnect with their roots. The Chief Minister said that the resolve to establish a Gita Bhavan in every urban local body of the state is being fulfilled at a rapid pace. He described it as a matter of pride that the state’s first Gita Bhavan was inaugurated in Indore, the city of Ahilyabai Holkar, and the second has been launched in Jabalpur, the karmabhoomi of Rani Durgavati. He said that any nation or culture flourishes only when it remains rooted in its heritage, and Gita Bhavans will serve as a major medium for preserving and nurturing cultural values.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that Gita Bhavans are part of the state’s broader initiative to connect the younger generation with Indian culture, the wisdom of the Gita and the tradition of reading. He described Gita Bhavan as a modern platform where India’s philosophical outlook will be conveyed to youth through study, reflection, research and cultural dialogue. These centres will evolve into vibrant spaces for learning, contemplation and meaningful discourse.
Facilities at Gita Bhavan
Gita Bhavan’s house has a wide collection of books, including religious and mythological texts, literature that fosters scientific and rational perspectives, inspirational biographies, and study material for competitive examinations. An air-conditioned e-library has also been established, offering an extensive collection of books in Hindi, English and Sanskrit. For the convenience of readers, dedicated Ramayana, Gita and Sarva-Dharma reading rooms have been created. The Gita Bhavan also features a well-equipped and aesthetically designed auditorium for cultural programmes, discourses and academic events.

These include Ujjain, the place of Lord Krishna’s education; the friendship site of Shri Krishna and Sudama near Swarnagiri mountain at village Narayana; Amjhera in Dhar district; and Badnawar, believed to be the land where Lord Krishna rested at night. In addition, Janapav near Indore, associated with his message of humility, is also being developed. All these locations are being upgraded as pilgrimage destinations.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that through Shri Krishna Pathey, the teachings of Shri Krishna will be carried to the younger generation. Water bodies, forests and gardens along the route will be conserved, and archaeological surveys will be undertaken to identify other locations that may be historically linked with Lord Krishna.
