The marathon, recognized as a World Athletics “Gold Label” race, will see an unprecedented 14,059 runners take part in the full marathon for the first time. Participation in the half marathon and the open 10 km categories has also seen significant growth, reflecting the event’s increasing popularity.
Maharashtra Chief Secretary Rajesh Agarwal highlighted the marathon’s dual impact on health and the economy. “Over the past two decades, the Tata Mumbai Marathon has positively influenced both the physical well-being of participants and the city’s economic landscape. It benefits airlines, hotels, and local vendors, making it a key driver of economic activity,” he said.
The marathon also serves as a major platform for fundraising. Organizers reported that NGOs raised ₹536.2 million in the 2025 season, with the largest portion—₹276.6 million—allocated to education. Over the past three years, the Tata Mumbai Marathon has generated a cumulative ₹1,182.67 million, showcasing its role as a significant catalyst for social development alongside economic benefits.
Organized by Procam International, the event attracts professional athletes, amateur runners, and charity participants alike, promoting fitness, community engagement, and philanthropic causes. The marathon has become a cultural fixture in Mumbai, drawing national and international attention while encouraging active lifestyles and supporting social initiatives.
As the city prepares for the event, organizers and authorities are emphasizing safety, logistics, and smooth coordination to ensure a successful marathon experience for all participants. The 21st edition promises to set new records in participation, fundraising, and community involvement, reinforcing the Tata Mumbai Marathon’s status as one of India’s premier sporting and social events.
