Ensure Clean Drinking Water for Every Citizen: Chief Minister Dr. Yadav
Chief Minister Mohan Yadav said that ensuring clean drinking water for every citizen is the responsibility of urban local bodies. A clean drinking water supply must be ensured in both rural and urban areas. Regular testing of drinking water quality should be conducted, and alternative arrangements must be made in case of contamination. Under no circumstances should contaminated drinking water be supplied. Calling it a major challenge, the Chief Minister urged officials to address it with utmost seriousness and set an example for the country. The Chief Minister addressed a high-level meeting at the State Airport conference hall on Saturday evening after returning from his visit to Sagar district. He formally launched the statewide Swachh Jal Abhiyan. The video conference was attended by Urban Development and Housing Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya, along with mayors and chairpersons of various local bodies.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that the government is committed to strengthening management systems to ensure the supply of safe and pure drinking water to all citizens. Public representatives and officials must collectively discharge their responsibilities effectively. He said the Swachh Jal Abhiyan will be conducted in two phases. Phase I from January 10 to February 28, and Phase II from March 1 to March 31. A system of “Jal Sunwai” (Water Hearings) has been put in place to address public drinking water issues, which officials have been directed to handle with utmost seriousness.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav directed that pipeline leakages be promptly repaired to ensure safe and clean drinking water for public health. Clean drinking water must reach every household. He appreciated the Urban Local Bodies Department for initiating the use of a mobile application for this purpose and warned that strict action would be taken against any laxity in the clean drinking water supply. All mayors, district panchayat chairpersons, commissioners, collectors, municipal commissioners, CEOs of district panchayats, and public representatives from urban and rural areas participated in the VC.
