Eklavya Model Residential Schools Transform Tribal Children’s Futures in Rajasthan
Jaipur, January 2026 : Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRS) in the remote tribal regions of Rajasthan are shining like the sun on the horizons of education, inclusivity, and social security. Across the state’s 31 EMRS institutions, children from Scheduled Tribes are preparing for competitive exams like NEET, IIT-JEE, while innovations in artificial intelligence, computer labs, and exam preparation are opening new horizons in their dreams.

EMRS currently educates 11,619 students—6,710 boys and 4,909 girls—bringing hope to thousands of families in tribal areas. Parents, once anxious about their children’s future, now witness confidence and optimism in their children. The impact is visible in rising enrollment: 1,620 more students joined in the 2025-26 session compared to 9,999 in 2024-25, with increasing numbers appearing for entrance tests each year.
Free Education, Accommodation, and Resources
The newest EMRS, inaugurated in Jamwaramgarh (Jaipur) in June 2025, is part of the 31 CBSE-affiliated schools operated by the Rajasthan State EMRS Society, offering classes from grade 6 to 12, with Science and Arts streams in grades 11 and 12. Students receive free education, textbooks, housing, meals, nutritious diets, shoes, and daily essentials. Specialized labs for AI, Virtual Reality, electronics, beauty & wellness, agriculture, and automotive skills are integrated into the curriculum.
Sports and co-curricular activities are emphasized alongside academics. In the 2025-26 session, 154 students from EMRS selected in the State Sports Meet 2025 represented Rajasthan at the National Sports Meet 2025 in Rourkela, Odisha, winning medals in nine events. Similarly, 59 students participated in the National Cultural and Literary Fest 2025 in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh.
Special Arrangements for JEE and NEET Preparation
Students in grades 9 to 11 receive career guidance and access to the Enable program in collaboration with Tata Motors for daily online classes for IIT-JEE and NEET preparation. Twelve students selected in the National Level Dakshna examination receive specialized coaching in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. Notable successes include Rajkumari Meena (EMRS Barnala, Sawai Madhopur) and Anikesh Meena (EMRS Bihari Pura, Jaipur), who are now pursuing MBBS at government medical colleges after clearing NEET.
EMRS to MBBS: Stories of Transformation
Rajkumari Meena, from a village near Barnala in Sawai Madhopur, scored 93% in 10th grade despite her school lacking biology and gained admission to EMRS Barnala. She now studies MBBS at Government Medical College, Bhavnagar, aiming for MD in Medicine. Similarly, Anikesh Meena from Nadauti, Karauli, is pursuing MBBS at Diamond Harbour Government Medical College, West Bengal, aspiring to become a cardiologist. Mohanlal Meena, from Kishanpura near Bassi, Jaipur, whose father works in Gujarat as a laborer, is now studying MBBS at Guru Gobind Singh Medical College, Faridkot, Punjab, aiming to become a general physician.
EMRS is creating pathways for tribal children from remote areas to achieve academic excellence and realize dreams of professional careers in medicine, engineering, and beyond.
