Exposure Visit: KGBV Girls Will Come Face to Face with History, Science and Self-Confidence

  • Students of 746 Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas of the state will get the opportunity for educational and historical exposure

Lucknow, January 2026 : Under the guidance and leadership of Basic Education Minister Sandeep Singh, translating the objectives of the National Education Policy on the ground and moving girls beyond textbook knowledge to directly connect them with history, science, culture and modern technology, the Basic Education Department has taken an important step. Girls studying in 746 Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas (KGBV) of the state will now get the opportunity for exposure visits to state-level educational and historical sites. For this, a large amount of ₹1283.12 lakh has been approved and released.

It may be noted that the objective of these tours is to develop scientific thinking among girls, instil pride in national heritage, draw inspiration from ideals of women empowerment, and enhance self-confidence and leadership ability.

₹1.72 lakh allocated to each KGBV
According to the order issued by the department, each KGBV will be provided funds at the rate of ₹1.72 lakh. From this amount, proper arrangements will be made for transportation, accommodation, food, educational material, entry fees, security and first aid for the girls.

Girls will interact with history, science and modern India
Under the exposure visit, the major places that the girls will visit include Triveni Sangam, Anand Bhavan, science centres, IIT Kanpur, Taj Mahal, Agra Fort, Taj Mahal, Fatehpur Sikri, Sarnath, Ramnagar Fort, the ancient civilisation of the Ganga, Prayagraj (Triveni Sangam), Kushinagar (Mahaparinirvan site), Rashtrapati Bhavan, India Gate, Red Fort, Jantar Mantar, Qutub Minar, science and research centres located in Sector-62 Noida, etc.

Girls will be taken on tours between 15 and 25 February
The department has also finalised the dates for organising exposure visits in all 75 districts of the state. This tour programme will be conducted between 15 February and 25 February. Moreover, orders have also been issued to constitute a monitoring committee in each district.

These will be the members of the monitoring committee
At the district level, the District Magistrate of the concerned district will be the chairperson of the monitoring committee, while members will include representatives nominated by the Chief Development Officer (CDO) and Chief Medical Officer (CMO), representatives of the RTO Administration and the police administration. The District Basic Education Officer will be included as the Member Secretary.

Safety paramount, women teachers will accompany
Top priority has been given to the safety of the girls. The presence of women teachers in the buses carrying the girls has been made mandatory. Deployment of one teacher/warden for every 10 girls is mandatory. Along with this, prior coordination with the police administration, information about the women helpline 1090, availability of first aid material, and fitness certification of buses are also mandatory.
