CM Hemant Soren Outlines Jharkhand’s Vision for Sustainable and Inclusive Growth at CII-Organised Global Sustainability Roundtable

Davos / Ranchi, Jan 2026 : Chief Minister of Jharkhand, Shri Hemant Soren, underscored the State’s commitment to sustainable and inclusive development during his participation in the high-level roundtable on “Delivering Sustainability at Scale: Pathways for Global Transformation,” organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting 2026 in Davos. The session brought together senior policymakers, global industry leaders, and institutional investors to discuss pathways for environmentally responsible and socially inclusive economic growth.

Addressing the gathering, Shri Hemant Soren highlighted Jharkhand’s intent to move beyond being a mere exporter of mines and minerals. He emphasized that the State aims to leverage its natural resources responsibly, fostering value addition, sustainable industrialisation, and inclusive growth that directly benefits its people. “The objective is not only to utilise our natural resources but to do so responsibly and in a manner that creates employment and long-term prosperity for our people,” he said. The Chief Minister stressed that sustainability must extend beyond environmental protection, translating into livelihoods, skill development, and overall social well-being, especially for local and tribal communities.

Shri Soren elaborated on the State Government’s strategic initiatives to generate employment through downstream mineral-based industries, renewable energy projects, green technologies, and the strengthening of human capital. He underlined the importance of policy frameworks that balance economic growth with environmental stewardship and social equity, ensuring that industrialisation does not compromise Jharkhand’s ecological and cultural assets.

Highlighting the State’s tourism potential, the Chief Minister noted opportunities in eco-tourism, nature-based tourism, and cultural tourism. He emphasised that tourism can emerge as a major driver of sustainable development, creating local jobs while preserving Jharkhand’s rich biodiversity and cultural heritage. This focus aligns with the broader vision of building a green economy that integrates industrial growth, environmental conservation, and social empowerment.

Shri Hemant Soren also invited global investors and strategic partners to collaborate with Jharkhand in areas such as responsible mining, sustainable manufacturing, renewable energy infrastructure, and tourism development. He stressed that international expertise, technology, and investment can accelerate the State’s transformation into a model for balanced, future-ready, and inclusive growth.

Jharkhand’s participation in the CII-organised global sustainability dialogue underscores the State’s commitment to translating global sustainability principles into practical, region-specific strategies. By actively engaging with international stakeholders, the Chief Minister highlighted Jharkhand’s ambition to align economic development with environmental responsibility and inclusive progress, setting a benchmark for resource-efficient, people-centric growth.

Through these engagements, Jharkhand aims to showcase its potential as a leading destination for sustainable investment while ensuring that economic prosperity benefits communities across the State.
