Sri Anandpur Sahib, September 2026 : Dozens of workers associated with the Congress party from Nanoal village joined the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Sunday, citing the people-oriented policies of the Punjab government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and the development works being undertaken across the state and in the Sri Anandpur Sahib constituency.
Cabinet Minister and Sri Anandpur Sahib MLA Harjot Singh Bains welcomed the leaders and workers into the party and encouraged them to work more actively to strengthen the party’s policies and welfare initiatives. In recent times, several leaders and workers associated with different political parties have joined the AAP in the constituency.
On the occasion, the newly inducted workers said that the development and welfare initiatives undertaken by the Mann government in Punjab and the Sri Anandpur Sahib constituency had influenced their decision to join the AAP. They said efforts were being made to maintain direct contact with people in the constituency, listen to their problems and address them at the local level.
They also referred to the recent public interaction programme held at Jindwari village, where a large number of residents presented their problems and demands before the government.
The new members said that under the leadership of Cabinet Minister Harjot Singh Bains, several development works related to roads, bridges and other basic infrastructure were being undertaken in villages across the constituency.
They said work was also underway on several projects in the Changer area, including arrangements for irrigation water and the construction of new bridges and culverts. The process of widening the Nangal-Kiratpur Sahib road into a four-lane highway has also progressed, which is expected to strengthen transportation and connectivity in the region.
Cabinet Minister Harjot Singh Bains said the primary objective of the Aam Aadmi Party government was to ensure that people receive the benefits of government schemes and facilities without discrimination.
He said AAP volunteers and party workers in the constituency were reaching out to people to understand their needs and problems. He stressed that politics should prioritise community harmony, mutual respect and development instead of a sense of political revenge.
Bains said the pace of development would be accelerated by taking people from every village and every section of society along in the development process.
The newly inducted members said they would actively work to take the policies of the Aam Aadmi Party to every household and serve the people. They said they would also contribute towards communicating the government's development and welfare initiatives to the public.
Welcoming all the new members, Harjot Singh Bains said every new member would be given due respect and recognition within the party. He said all party workers would work together for the progress and development of the Sri Anandpur Sahib constituency.
