Patna, August 2026: Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary on Thursday directed officials to ensure the effective functioning of the state’s Model Schools (Saraswati Vidya Niketan) and give special attention to the holistic development of students alongside providing quality education.
Chairing a review meeting of the Education Department at the ‘Sankalp’ conference hall located at the Lok Sevak Awas, the Chief Minister directed officials to strengthen the quality of education and provide a better academic environment in government schools across Bihar. He emphasised that modern facilities, quality teaching and improved educational outcomes should form the foundation for preparing students for a bright future.
During the meeting, Education Department Secretary Rajiv Ranjan Roshan made a detailed presentation on the educational arrangements and facilities available at Model Schools (Saraswati Vidya Niketan) operating across the state. Bihar School Examination Board Chairman Dr Tyag Rajan S.M. briefed the Chief Minister about the board’s e-learning initiatives and its 24x7 interactive digital learning platform.
The Chief Minister directed officials to ensure that Model Schools operate efficiently and develop a distinctive identity through their academic standards and facilities. He called for regular reviews and inspections of teaching arrangements, teacher availability, student attendance and the quality of classroom instruction.
He also instructed officials to effectively implement the ‘One Officer-One Model School’ system, under which officers would remain directly connected with designated schools. The objective is to ensure timely resolution of school-related issues and strengthen administrative monitoring.
Choudhary directed officials to conduct surprise inspections of schools and ensure regular reporting of academic activities and day-to-day functioning at both headquarters and district levels.
The Chief Minister said the quality of a school cannot be determined merely by its physical infrastructure. It depends equally on an effective teaching system and the overall development of students. He directed that parent-teacher meetings be organised every three months in Model Schools to facilitate regular communication regarding students’ academic progress and requirements.
He also emphasised strengthening interaction with former students of Model Schools. Regular meetings and mentoring programmes should be developed so that current students can benefit from the achievements, experiences and guidance of alumni.
The Chief Minister stressed that talented students studying in Bihar’s government schools should receive better guidance and adequate academic resources to prepare for competitive examinations such as JEE and NEET. He said students from government schools must also have access to quality preparation so that they can compete successfully in prestigious national-level examinations.
Choudhary further directed the Bihar School Examination Board to make its e-learning and 24x7 interactive digital learning platform more effective and expand its reach among students. He called for maximum use of digital resources to provide students with quality study material, expert guidance and modern educational resources.
He emphasised that the benefits of all initiatives undertaken by the Education Department must reach students directly and that there should be no shortage of resources. Quality education, a better academic environment and appropriate use of modern technology, he said, are essential to prepare Bihar’s students for future challenges.
The meeting was attended by Chief Minister’s Principal Secretary Deepak Kumar, Education Department Secretary Rajiv Ranjan Roshan, Bihar School Examination Board Chairman Dr Tyag Rajan S.M. and other senior officials.
